6 Movies With Unbelievable Window Scenes

“This article will self destruct in ten minutes.”

We at Conservation Construction love windows if you haven’t heard. We sell and install only a top notch product. So this week we wanted to go over some of our favorite films which have beautiful window scenes to show you the “big picture” on just how important windows are in a home (not to mention how cool they are when someone is jumping off of them via skyscraper). This moves us right along to our first movie . . .

I’ll give you the film description first. Let’s take you back to the box office in 2011. Tom Cruise, a mission that was impossible. Okay, I sort of gave it away, but this film is the pinnacle of what windows can do for film. Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol received mixed reviews from critics and audience, but this scene was quite epic. Height, suspense, daring feats of strength, and mirrored reflections added another level of beauty to each shot. These scenes atop Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai were quite expertly shot and cinematically beautiful. Image result for mission impossible ghost protocol

We cannot talk about film and windows without mentioning not only the most important window film, but also one of the most important movies in film history. This movie centers around Grace Kelly and James Stewart. A bad leg injury immobilizes James. All he has for entertainment is to watch the neighboring apartments occupants — more or less spying on them for days on end.  As they observe, they find something suspicious going on . . . If you haven’t guessed the movie yet, it’s Rear Window. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, stop reading and go watch it immediately because you have missed out on a huge part of film history.Image result for rear window

As you may or may not know, you cannot have this film without the very large picture windows that Jimmy uses to watch his neighbors. You would also have no plot if the neighboring apartments didn’t have crisp clean windows to look through either. Despite the fact that these windows are not a living character, they are a character in the film nonetheless. This film was brought to you by windows! This entire movie is one long window scene.

Image result for the dark knightLet’s move to movie number three, which was co-written, produced and directed by Christopher Nolan. It was released in 2008 and it stars a man who is also a Bat (well, sort of). The Dark Knight was released to critical and commercial success grossing 539.5 million the first weekend it opened domestically. And . . .  it had a ton of good window scenes in the movie–especially when The Joker crashes a party looking for Harvey Dent. When he doesn’t find who he’s looking for, he takes Rachel Dawes (Batman’s girlfriend) and dangles her out the window as a threat. This easy to open window offers all the suspense in this particular shot.

It’s 1999 and we’re taking the blue pill, no the red, no, the blue . . . We’re learning Karate and armed combat with the flip of the switch. Starring Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne, The Matrix was, and still is, a classic. Unfortunately, there is just way too many window scenes in this movie to get them all, but let’s focus on the beginning of the film. To avoid capture, Neo is told to escape out of his own office building. To do this, he must scale down his 50+ story building on a window cleaning kit. Talk about a thrilling movie to watch. He gets scared and turns around, but what a window! Image result for the matrix

Who could forget this terrifyingly tragic scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. In this 1980’s classic, Ferris Bueller and his friend Cameron Frye take out Frye’s dad’s car for a day playing “Hookie.” In an attempt to make sure Frye’s dad hasn’t noticed they were driving around his very expensive 1961 Ferrari 250 GT all day, they try to “take off the miles” by raising the back end of the car and placing the vehicle in reverse. Things backfire when the car comes off the jack and reverses out of the huge windows of the garage. As it smashes through, it tumbles into a ravine full of trees. Although this window scene is horrendous to watch, it is also hilarious. Again, brought to you by windows!Image result for ferris bueller's day off car

This final flick has a particularly special place in my heart. It’s Life As A House, and it centers around actor Kevin Kline and his son who are building a new house over a summer (to overly simplify the plot). The final scene showcases the finished house at Sunset (the house to the left). Light is gleaming and glistening over the windows. This shows a spectacular cinematic view through the windows of the house. I needed to put it in because that last scene brings the whole movie full circle. You’ll have to watch the movie to see the real end shot.

In conclusion, all these incredible movies with windows should remind you that manufacturers like Conservation Construction can provide beautiful windows for your home that will be a sight to see and last a lifetime. Inquire online at conservationconstruction.com.
