Can Clear Windows Affect Your Mood?

From my own personal experience, I know for sure how much new windows can affect your mood. They affected my entire outlook on life. It wasn’t just that my old windows were fogged up and disgusting; because they were (see image below). It was that I felt like I couldn’t open my blinds because the windows were so grimy I didn’t even want to look at them. I didn’t realize it, but the lack of sun coupled with the foggy/cracked windows put me in an off mood most days.

Old Window Obstructed the View

The old windows obstructed the natural Colorado sunlight. It also made the views of the mountains and pine trees look distorted. Both of these things were truly a nuisance. Furthermore, the nuisance only continued with any type of storm. Anything from a light breeze up to a rainstorm would cause major problems inside my home with my old windows. I would get water inside the house, and my curtains would literally blow inward with any breeze. It was pathetic how bad my windows were before.

The Clear Picture

Those who know about sunlight know the more we get the more our bodies produce serotonin. Serotonin regulates our happiness and anxiety. The more serotonin in our brains the less stressed we are. I found that with the new windows I could open the blinds farther and get more sunlight myself. Upon receiving my new windows, I found my mood shifted almost immediately. And, I could now keep my blinds open without obstructed views.

Clean Glass

Kind of like how a clean desk can help productivity at work, clean windows can help you while you’re working from home. I didn’t realize just how much fogged up windows made my house look dirty. No matter how much I cleaned the house always had this tinge of dullness to it because the old windows were making the house seem gloomy. The sunrise is bright and beautiful as it comes through the windows, and I love sitting on my couch, sippin’ on some coffee, and enjoying the view. Since my house feels cleaner, I get more stuff done in my own home.

The windows are coated, too, with a specialized Easy Clean Glass Coating. This coating works with the sun to decompose organic matter from the glass which helps your windows stay clean and clear for years. I haven’t even had to clean my windows once since they were installed.

Full Functionality

I couldn’t get my old windows open. Truly, I couldn’t even open them a crack because the mechanisms in the window which allowed this were broken. So in the summer I had to either open my patio doors or front door to get any sort of breeze going. With my new windows from Conservation Construction I get full functionality out of my windows. I can open and shut them with ease. This may not seem like a big deal to other, but it was a big deal to me. They also now lock properly which is a huge bonus because my house feels safe now when before it didn’t feel safe at all.

The windows have also lowered our energy costs. Energy savings wasn’t the first thing I wanted out of the windows when I purchased them. I bought them mostly for the clear views but saving on energy costs was a nice added bonus. We spend about $40 less in energy costs per month – that’s a pretty decent monthly savings.

Final Thoughts

I can’t say enough good things about Conservation Construction windows. They are just the best, and I’m not just saying that because I work here. They truly are beautiful, functional, safe and energy efficient. I would highly recommend them to anybody in need of window replacement. Nowadays, I open my blinds and I open them wide. My house feels more like home than ever. Again, I’m not speaking for everyone. This is one woman’s perspective on how new home windows affected her mood. I can’t say for certain it will change your happiness like it did mine, but there is a good chance they could. Get more sunlight, function, and energy efficiency out of your home windows.
