Broken Window Seals?

When I first moved into my house the most blatantly apparent problem was the windows. Not only did they have cracks and latches that would not work, but every window in the house had its seal broken. Let me tell you. I had no idea what this meant for me when I first moved in. As I would find out later (the joys of being a homeowner) that the washer and dryer were also malfunctioning which meant we had a humidity problem as well which only made the windows worse.

You may be asking yourself how you can even tell if you have a broken window seal? For those of us know what these look like it is not hard to spot. Have you ever driven past a house or lived in a house (like me) that looks like it has a permanent fog or condensation on the glass? Let me tell you this has nothing to do with the amount of windex you have cleaned with and everything to do with the panes of glass and the air between the seal of the window.

These failed seals mean every energy saving property your windows might have had in them, i.e. argon gas that helped protect the inside of the glass and your house, has escaped and allowed moisture to enter into the gap between the two windows. Although there are plenty of articles/videos out there to walk you through how to clean the inside of the windows, believe me it’s a lot easier on the tutorials than in real life. Glass seals are not meant to function broken. Window seal fails cause outside air to get in with ease making it hard to maintain a consistent temperature in your home.

Although window seal failures might be a common occurrence in homes this is now how they were meant to function. Once a seal around the perimeter of glass is broken it doesn’t matter if you live in a mild climate or not no matter how moist the air is the water will get between the panes of glass and fog up the inside of the panes causing an eyesore along with poor energy efficiency.

At Conservation Construction we don’t want you to have to live with these type of windows. We want your windows to seal in the heat when it’s cold and keep the heat out when it’s hot. Who wants to live in a house where all the energy savings are just leaving your house and literally vanishing into the air? I don’t want this for you or for me.

With our Conservation windows whether you choose; single pane, double or triple pane those broken seals will be a thing of the past. Each replacement window we construct and manufacture with Anlin is a insulated glass unit. Which means your house will seal in all the energy and be the most efficient than any other window manufacturer out there. It also means that moisture will not get into the seal and with our warranties if anything does break down, we’ll fix it so this broken sea problem will be a thing of the past. We also use low emissivity glass and Easy Clean Glass coating. These two things mean that sunlight can come in without jeopardizing energy efficiency and with Easy Clean Glass you’ll have a window that is debris resistant so the outside of your windows will practically clean themselves.

So instead of watching video after video of how you are going to figure out how to clean that infinitesimal gap between two panes of glass in your windows, think about how much time you really want to spend and how much effort you want to put into working on those windows when they aren’t working for you. Keep in mind the ease of operation, energy efficiency, and how clean your house could be if you just install new windows instead. Once you think about these benefits I’m sure you’ll not want to spend that excess amount of time trying to clean and instead use that for a better purpose–like reading that book, or memorizing the lyrics to that song you like, or watch that youtube video you had put in your que.
