Foam Filled Window Frames

Have you ever heard of window frames having foam in them before? Why in the world do our Windows have foam filled frames? That’s what we’ll be talking about in today’s article. Keep reading to learn more about our special windows and what the foam does to make them so extraordinary . . .

In the past old aluminum frames would expand and contract with the sun. Some people still have these ancient windows to this day. They didn’t hold the glass in place very long because of their capacity to hold extreme heat. Nowadays new frames are made from vinyl which stays at a stable temperature. This helps hold the glass in place, keeps the insulating gases between the panes, and prevents outside air infiltration. At Conservation Construction we’ve even designed a specialty vinyl window that not only lasts a lifetime, but keeps your home at a stable temperature for that time too.

Foam Filled Frames

One of the key and most important factors to our windows bringing down your energy loss is their foam filled sides. Foam is injected into the window frame on both sides of the window to ensure that the frames insulate better. This means if the hot or cold comes along it’ll stay outside blocked by the foam in the window frames. Additionally, with our new Windows in place, you won’t be able to feel the cold coming in from the outside as much as you would with your old windows. This blocks the most amount of air possible. It combines with the specialty Krypton/Argon gases we stick between the window panes to truly create a reduction in energy costs.

Moisture Barrier

Another great thing about our phenomenal frames is that because they are filled with foam and construction for durability, things like water don’t affect the window. Our frames have custom bottom drains. This means if any water (even the tiniest amount) were to ever get behind the frame it would just roll down to the bottom of the window and out the bottom drain. The custom bottom drains we’ve designed are exclusive to Conservation Construction. No other company on the market has drains like this that protect from water damage. This means that older window frames, or windows you get from other companies, can allow the water to just sit in the frame and cause larger problems down the line such as mold or rotting.
