How Home Windows Are Made

Have you ever wondered what exactly goes on in the window manufacturing process? In today’s article you’ll learn how we make our windows. On average, each home in the US Contains 10 Windows. Since there are so many homes across the country, it’s important that windows protect, insulate, and have clear views. Today, we manufacture Conservation Construction modern windows here in the United States. Our Windows start out in two separate pieces. First, glass is shipped to the warehouse and cut to fit individual orders. Each clear glass piece is coated with a Low-E glass coating and Easy Clean Glass Coating. These increase the R-Value of the window and keep the glass clean for better overall performance.

The Next Steps

After the glass is cut to the desired shape, it is then sealed together with our Spacers. It rolls on wheels down the production line where it is then sealed around the outside and the spacers and glass. This prevents the spacers from moving. This is where gas tanks fitted with a needle inject the window with a special Argon Gas. This gas acts as an insulator between the window and the outside air.

Frames

The frames are made in a different part of the warehouse. Workers assemble the frame where the window will sit. They cut this frame to the same measurements as the window. This ensures the windows and the frame are a perfect fit! The frames are then sealed with caulk to ensure energy efficiency and an excellent seal.

Final Step

In the last step the windows and frames are placed together to create the final window. A worker lays the finished gas filled glass panes into the vinyl frame. Using a special tool, they snip the vinyl in place to fit. The windows are now complete! They are ready to be shipped to you and placed in your home.

The Difference

Custom windows like ours at Conservation Construction mean that you have a tighter seal. A tighter seal means it stops unwanted outside air from infiltrating into your home. This means a lower energy bill overall for the life of the window.
