How To Get Window Tinting Off

Remove Home Window Tinting, Replacement Windows, Home Window Replacement,

There are several reasons you would have window tinting on your home windows now. Sometimes you put tint on your windows to get better efficiency, and realize you are sick of it blocking the views. Sometimes you buy a house with window tinting and you didn’t even want it to begin with. One thing is for sure, if you have found this article you are wanting a way to get rid of the window tinting fast.

Lucky for you, I’ve got several quick solutions to getting rid of that old window tinting.

Razor Blade

  1. You can use a razor blade to scrape off the window tinting. If you use a new razor blade and switch it out periodically before it gets worn down, you shouldn’t scratch the glass, but still be able to remove the tinting.  Be sure that the tint is a stick on tint and not part of the glass, because then you won’t be able to remove the tint if it is part of the glass itself.

Ammonia & Steel Wool

  1. You can remove it by using some ammonia and very fine steel wool (be careful as you don’t want to much pressure as to scratch the glass). Then you can wipe the surface with a paper towel before it dries. Afterwards, clean the window thoroughly with glass cleaner.

Soaking The Windows With Soap & Water

  1.  Another solution would be to soap up the windows and let the water sit on the glass. Keep re-wetting the windows until the tint is soaked through. The water usually works its way through the tint within 30 minutes. This should make the tint peel off easily. Remember to keep re-wetting the other windows as you work the first piece of tint. Elbow grease works great here too.

Steamer

  1. If you have a clothes steamer you can use it like you would a wallpaper remover. Steam the window for 15-20 minutes and the underlying glue of the tint should loosen, then you can scrape it off easily.

New Windows!

  1. New Windows are the best alternative to spending a lot of money and hours scraping your windows clean.
