What are the pieces of siding called?
The actual siding panels are called profiles. These are the individual strips they put up during your siding installation. They can be cut down into smaller pieces to fit in tight spaces. Each siding has different types of panels that fit different needs. At Conservation Construction we have Cedar Ridge Siding, Vinyl, and James Hardie Fiber Cement. So all are good siding choices and all offer different protection in different ways. Finally, they come with different patterns as well to look like real wood or more modern textures!
Soffit & Fascia
An exterior soffit is located on the span beneath the rafter tails, while the fascia is the exposed horizontal band you see at the end of the rafters. These architectural elements found along the house help protect the exterior of your house by keeping out pests like bats, birds, and squirrels, and give you a way to disguise ventilation for your attic.
House Wrap
House wraps, also referred to as housewraps, prevent moisture, mold, and drafts from entering your home and can act as a strong barrier against moisture or wind. At Conservation Construction we use a house wrap called Tyvek. This house wrap is the superior choice for siding replacement projects. Additionally, it sits behind the siding panels and allows air to vent the house to prevent water damage.
Paint & Stains
For the most part, stain is the same as paint. It is composed of pigments and a vehicle, ingredients that perform the same functions as they do in paint. Additionally, the sidings we sell at Conservation Construction come pre-stained or pre-painted with long lasting properties that never have to be painted again. If you are looking for a truly maintenance free siding you can’t do better than a siding from Conservation Construction.
End Caps
An End Cap is a piece of trim used to deflect water away from the top of vertical siding. Finally, the End Cap siding pieces ensure that water drips away from panels and does not infiltrate them.
