The Evolution Of James Hardie Siding Told by Santa
Hello to all. Santa here. As we approach this holiday week I wanted to take time out of my busy schedule overseeing the elves and re-checking my naughty and nice list to give you a brief history lesson on my favorite siding. For those of you who don’t know much about siding products, there are more than several out there, but there’s only one we use here at the North Pole. It’s a siding that is strong, durable and beautiful. James Hardie is the preferred siding for our North Pole operations center. It’s ability to resist strong winds, harsh weather, whilst staying beautiful all year round is why we’ve chosen it.
For those of you who don’t know me that well, I’m into deep and rich traditions. Our entire operation relies on the belief in me and my reindeer. James Hardie Fiber Cement Siding too is seated in deep and rich traditions which is another reason we chose it up here at North Pole Headquarters.
What is the history of James Hardie Siding and how did it evolve into the prolific product we know today? Take a trip with me, Santa, down memory lane and learn the unique history and evolution of James Hardie Siding and learn why it is my favorite siding product . . .
Hardie Fiber Cement Products didn’t start out as siding at all. It started when James Hardie, a humble man from Linlithgow Scotland, immigrated to Australia in 1888. He created a business importing animal hides and exotic oils. Andrew Reid came too from Linlithgow and joined James in Melbourne. They took on a full time partnership with the business in 1895. Hardie retired in 1911 selling his half of the business to Reid.
James Hardie LTD was first listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1951. In the following years Reid’s family led the expanding business into the new century from 1911 to 1995 when Reid’s grandson finally retired. The company built up a diverse portfolio of building industrial products. It was in the mid 1980’s that James Hardie LTD pioneered the development of fiber-cement technology. They took this technology and engineered into a wide array of building products. It was a great use for this product because of its strength, durability, and versatility. It’s been developing and honing fiber cement products for decades now. This siding graces the side of more than 8 million houses worldwide.
In 2010 James Hardie moved its headquarters to the Ireland and is now distributing siding all around the world.
So there you have it. With such a rich history you can see why so many people choose James Hardie for their siding. But it wasn’t all about history. The durability of this product was a huge sell for me as we do live in the North Pole. Mrs. Clause did her research and found that James Hardie has all of these properties as well . . .

So that’s the story of James Hardie Siding. It didn’t rhyme like some of the other stories that are told about me over the holidays, but it is still a nice story nonetheless. So remember if you are looking for new siding this season you’ve got Santa’s seal of approval with James Hardie Siding. If you are on the nice list and would like this unique gift for Christmas List. If you are good enough you might just find a nice gift certificate from Conservation Construction under the tree to go toward your next siding purchase. Santa doesn’t usually endorse, but when he does he picks James Hardie Siding and Conservation Construction.
That’s all for today. I’ll see you next week when I’m delivering presents with my eight tiny reindeer. Remember it’s never too late to get on the nice list. A Big Thanks to Conservation for letting me write the article this week.
