  1. The White House boasts a crazy 147 windows. However, this is no match to the Buckingham Palace, which has approximately five times as many windows, coming in at a whopping 760 windows in total.
  2. The Empire State Building is 102 stories high and there are 6500 windows on the building.
  3. The tallest building in the world the Burj Khalifa, located in Dubai, has the most windows still, coming in at a whopping 24,348 windows. Wow!
  4. Stained glass gets its unique color by added metallic salts that are incorporated into the glass.  
  5. At 1,410 feet long the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Skywalk is the longest glass bridge in the world.  
  6. LoĒ³-366, has been specially formulated to reject the sun’s heat without affecting the view.
  7. Windows now have a special coating that helps the windows self clean. It’s called NeatGlass Coating and it uses the powerful UV rays to decompose matter from the glass.
  8. When Glass Breaks, the Cracks Move at 3000mph That’s 5 times faster than the average airplane, which travels at 575mph!
  9. Glass is 100% recyclable. In fact, it can be recycled endlessly without losing quality or purity.
  10. It takes glass 1 million years to break down. That being said, it is one of the longest lasting man made materials.
  11. Lastly . . . On October 25 2001, Microsoft launched Windows XP — its best-selling product ever. Windows XP was compiled from 45 million lines of code.

  1. That’s interesting that glass can last so long without braking down. I am thinking about putting in some new windows and that makes me feel better about doing it, since if nothing breaks them their lifespan should be longer than mine. I’ll have to look for some of the ones you mentioned that are dirt resistant that you mentioned.
