If you are replacing a window, patio door, entry door, or shower enclosure, you may hear the term “safety glass.” That label covers several products, but tempered and laminated glass are two of the most common choices used in homes.
They may look similar once installed, yet they react very differently to impact. Learning how each type is made, how it breaks, and where it is commonly used makes it easier to choose the right glass for the opening.
Tempered glass is heat-treated for added strength and breaks into small, relatively blunt pieces when damaged. Laminated glass uses two or more panes bonded around a flexible interlayer that helps hold the cracked glass together.
Tempered glass is commonly selected for safer breakage and heat resistance. Laminated glass may be preferred when security, sound reduction, UV protection, or keeping damaged glass in place is a priority. Building codes and the location of the opening may also determine which type is required.
Standard glass - often called annealed glass - goes through a slow cooling process after it is formed. This process makes the glass easier to cut and shape during manufacturing, but it can break into large, sharp pieces when damaged. Those shards are where injuries happen.
Safety glass, by contrast, is engineered to break in a way that reduces the risk of serious cuts or complete structural failure. Both tempered glass and laminated glass qualify as safety glass, but they achieve that goal through completely different methods.

Tempered glass starts as ordinary annealed glass, then goes through a controlled heating and rapid cooling process. The outside surfaces cool more quickly than the center, creating internal compression that makes the finished glass stronger than untreated glass.
The result is architectural glass that can handle impacts and temperature changes better than regular glass. When it does break, it shatters into small, relatively blunt pieces instead of large, sharp fragments. This breakage pattern generally reduces the risk of severe cuts, although broken tempered glass should still be handled carefully.
You encounter tempered glass more often than you probably realize. In residential construction, it is commonly used in patio doors, entry doors, shower enclosures, and certain windows positioned near floors, doors, stairs, or other high-traffic areas.
Building codes may require safety glazing in these locations because accidental contact is more likely. However, the exact requirements depend on the dimensions, placement, and use of the glass.

Laminated glass takes a different approach entirely. Instead of altering the glass through heat, lamination bonds two or more panes of glass together using an interlayer - most commonly polyvinyl butyral (PVB). Polyvinyl butyral is a plastic-based resin that is incredibly tough and flexible, and it is what keeps laminated glass from falling apart when it breaks.
The interlayer helps the glass remain together after an impact. The panes may crack, but many of the broken pieces stay attached to the flexible layer rather than immediately falling out of the opening.
That matters when you think about noise reduction, protection against accidental impact, added security and keeping damaged glass in place.
The most familiar example of laminated glass is your car's windshield. A windshield is designed to crack on impact without immediately collapsing inward onto the driver. That is the lamination doing its job.
A similar principle can apply when laminated glass is used in residential windows, patio doors or entry doors. Even after the glass cracks, the interlayer may help the opening remain intact until the damaged unit can be repaired or replaced.
Both products qualify as safety glass, but they serve different purposes. Here is how they compare across the most important factors.

In residential construction, building codes often require approved safety glazing in areas where accidental impact is more likely. Common examples may include glass in or near doors, shower enclosures, stairways and certain low-positioned windows.
A window close to the floor does not automatically require safety glass. Code requirements can depend on several factors, including the exposed glass area, the height of the upper and lower edges, and the window's proximity to a walking surface.
Depending on the application, approved safety glazing may include tempered glass, laminated glass or another compliant product. Local requirements and project conditions can also vary, so a qualified window or door professional should confirm the appropriate glass for each opening.
The honest answer is that it depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
If you are replacing shower doors, a sliding patio door, or any glass near floor level, tempered glass is usually the standard and the right call. It meets code, it is cost-effective, and its breakage pattern minimizes injury risk.
If you are focused on security, noise reduction, UV protection, or impact resistance - especially for entry doors and windows facing the street - laminated glass is worth the additional investment. The interlayer does real work that tempered glass simply cannot replicate.
In some high-performance window systems, you will find both. A window unit might use one tempered pane and one laminated pane in an insulated glass configuration to get the benefits of both. This is increasingly common in energy-efficient replacement windows designed for variable climates.
Tempered or laminated glass is only one part of a replacement window. Most modern windows use an insulated glass unit made with multiple panes, Low-E coatings, gas fills such as argon, spacers, seals, and a durable frame system.
The right glass configuration may also vary from one opening to another. A window near a door, stairway, floor, or high-traffic area may require approved safety glazing, while a street-facing window may benefit from laminated glass for added sound control and glass retention.
Frame construction, glass coatings, spacers, gas fills, installation, and the condition of the opening all affect how the finished window performs. Comparing the complete window system is more useful than choosing tempered or laminated glass by itself.
Tempered and laminated glass are both safety-glazing options, but they solve different problems. Tempered glass breaks into smaller pieces, while laminated glass remains attached to its interlayer after cracking.
The best choice for your replacement windows depends on the location of each opening, applicable building codes, outside noise, security concerns, UV exposure, and your goals for comfort and performance. Different rooms may call for different glass configurations rather than one option throughout the entire home.

You want two things this year: a safer home and fewer drafts.Â
Colorado’s brutal cold fronts make weak locks and leaky frames show fast, so simple changes pay off right away.
The fastest upgrades are more secure locks and better glass to make doors harder to force, help cut chilly air leaks, and still keep the look you love.Â

Colorado’s fast-moving fronts and big day–night swings can flex doors and windows. When panels shift, tiny gaps open, drafts creep in, and single-point latches take all the stress. Bright winter sun adds glare and fades furnishings.

How do I make sure my windows are secure?
Start by locking them every time. Good locks should pull the sash tight to the frame. Add simple upgrades where they matter most:
Are doors with windows secure?
They can be. Choose laminated glass for the window in the door so it stays together if cracked, and use a multi-point lock so the door grabs the frame at the top, middle, and bottom. Add a reinforced strike plate with 3-inch screws and pick a privacy or decorative glass style if your door faces the street.
Can burglars open a locked window?
A weak latch or loose frame can be pried. Sliding windows and doors are also vulnerable if they can be lifted out of the track. Make it harder by keeping windows fully closed and locked, adding a pin or dowel in the track, installing anti-lift blocks, and using laminated glass where it counts.
What are the most burglar-resistant windows?
No window is 100% break-proof, but some setups are tougher:
Use fixed windows where you do not need to open them, and pair with an operable unit nearby for ventilation and egress.
How do I make sure my home doors are secure?
For entry doors, choose a multi-point lock, a reinforced strike, and laminated or privacy glass if there is a window in the door. Use heavy-duty hinges and, if hinges are exposed, ask for security pins. For sliding patio doors, choose hook latches (2 or 4 hooks) and add a foot-lock at the sill if available. Keep the rollers adjusted so the panel closes smoothly and tight. For French patio doors, look for multi-point locking plus a deadbolt, and confirm the inactive panel locks into the head and sill.
If you've been shopping for replacement windows and keep running into the terms "bay" and "bow," you're not alone. Most homeowners aren't sure what separates them, and the confusion makes sense because both window styles project outward from the wall and add serious character to a home.
But they're not the same thing. Learning the differences between bay and bow windows can help you make a smarter decision for your home's architecture, budget, and daily comfort.
Let's break it all down.

A bay window is a multi-panel window that projects outward from an exterior wall, creating a small alcove or nook inside the room. The design of a bay window typically features a center window flanked by two angled side windows, forming a sharp, geometric shape.
The bay window has three panels in most configurations. The center window is usually a large picture window that doesn't open, while the two side windows are often casement or double-hung windows that allow ventilation.
Bay windows are typically installed in living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms. The angular design of bay windows makes them a natural fit for traditional and craftsman-style homes, and they've been a staple of residential architecture for generations.
Bay windows create a defined interior space that homeowners often use as a cozy window seat, a breakfast nook, or a spot to display plants that need sunlight. Bay windows also add visual interest to the exterior facade of a building.
Bay windows provide a significant amount of natural light thanks to the three windows working together to capture light from multiple angles. Bay windows are easier to dress with window treatment options like blinds or layered curtains because of their more angular structure.

A bow window is similar to a bay window in that it also extends beyond the exterior wall, but it uses a curved design rather than sharp angles. Bow windows typically consist of four, five, or even six window panels arranged in a gentle arc, resembling the bow of a watercraft.
The curve of a bow window gives it a softer, more elegant look that complements Victorian architecture and other decorative architectural styles. Bow windows often appear on the front of homes where curb appeal is the priority.
Bow windows create a rounded alcove inside the room that feels more expansive than the angular nook of a bay window. Bow windows extend outward more gradually, which can make them feel less intrusive in smaller rooms.
The bow window design is all about aesthetics and sweeping views. Bow windows use multiple panels of glass that curve around to bring in natural light from a wider angle than a standard flat window or even a bay window.
Bow windows offer a panoramic outdoor view that works especially well in homes facing a garden or open landscape. Bow windows also tend to create a more dramatic architectural statement, lending a turret-like quality to the exterior of the building.

Now that you have a sense of each type, let's compare bay vs bow windows directly on the points that matter most.
The most obvious difference between bay and bow windows is the shape. A bay window has three windows set at angles, creating a sharp geometric projection. A bow window uses four or more window panels arranged in a smooth curve.
The angular design of bay windows suits homes with bold, traditional lines, while the curve of a bow window adds softness and flow to a facade.
As far as bay windows go, the standard setup is a center window flanked by two side windows at 30 or 45-degree angles. A bow window, on the other hand, includes more panels, usually four to six, set at shallower angles to form the distinctive arc.
Bow windows use more glass overall, which affects both cost and energy performance.
Both window styles offer more natural light than a single flat window, but they do it differently.
Bay windows channel light from three directions with clear definition, while bow windows provide a more panoramic sweep of light and exterior views.
If maximizing your view of the outdoors is the goal, bow windows may give you a slight edge. If you want a bright, defined space with a distinct architectural focal point, a bay window is a strong choice.
Bay windows also create usable interior space, particularly in kitchens and living rooms, where a window seat or built-in storage can be added. The nook created by a bay window is more angular and easier to furnish.
Bow windows create a shallower, more open curve that doesn't lend itself as easily to a built-in seat but does make the room feel more open and airy.
Understanding the pros and cons of bay and bow windows will help you figure out which one fits your home better.

Window cost is often the deciding factor for homeowners. To compare bay vs bow windows on price, here's a general breakdown.
Bay windows typically cost between $1,500 and $4,500 installed, depending on window size, materials like wood versus polyvinyl chloride (vinyl), and the complexity of the existing window opening.
Bow windows usually cost more because they involve more glass and a more complex frame.
Since bow windows are larger and require additional structural modifications to the wall and roof, installation costs can range from $2,500 to $6,000 or more.
In other words, bow windows are more expensive than bay windows on average, but both represent a meaningful investment in your home's comfort, beauty, and long-term value. Bow windows also tend to have a higher impact on curb appeal, which can improve property value in return.
Replacing a bay window with a like-for-like unit is generally more straightforward, making bay window installation a bit more predictable in terms of budget planning.
Use a bay window if you want a practical, defined nook with strong architectural character and a more manageable window cost. Bay windows fit traditional homes especially well, and they're a solid choice if you need a breakfast nook, a reading spot, or a bright kitchen corner.
A bow window on your home may be the right move if your architectural style leans toward Victorian, romantic, or ornate.
Both window styles offer energy-efficient options when built with quality materials and proper building insulation. The type of window you choose should reflect your home's existing design, your budget, and how you want to use the space.
When in doubt, talking to a trusted local window replacement expert can help you add a bay or bow window that fits your home correctly from the start.
The differences between bay windows and bow windows come down to shape and panel count. A bay window has three windows set at sharp angles, while a bow window uses four to six panels in a curved arc. Both project outward from the wall, but a bay window is more angular and a bow window is more rounded.
Bow windows may cost more because they require more glass and more complex framing. Bay windows are generally the more budget-friendly option for homeowners looking to add architectural interest without the higher price tag of a bow window.
Yes. Both window styles can include operable panels. Bay windows often include casement windows on the sides, and bow windows come with similar options. Casement or double-hung windows built into the frame allow for ventilation alongside the fixed glass panels.
Bow windows may seem harder to clean due to the curve, but modern window designs with accessible sashes make maintenance simpler. When properly installed with quality frames and seals, bow windows generally require similar upkeep to other replacement windows.
Bay and bow window options work well in most homes, but they shine in specific architectural styles. Bay windows fit craftsman, colonial, and traditional homes. Bow windows often complement Victorian architecture and homes with softer, decorative exteriors.
Choosing between a bay window and a bow window doesn't have to be overwhelming. Both are beautiful, functional window options that can transform a room and boost your home's appeal for years to come.

Winter Window Replacement: Smart Choice
Most people assume that window replacement is strictly a "warm weather project." They picture their home being exposed to the elements, snow blowing into the living room, and a massive heating bill following shortly after.
In reality, winter is actually one of the smartest times to upgrade your windows. Here is why you shouldn’t wait for the spring thaw to make the switch.
During the winter months it's great to get on our schedule for a remodeling project. We can get you on the schedule rather quickly and do it efficiency.
Get your project done faster and start saving money on your energy bills now! Â

Why pay to heat the outdoors for another three months? If your current windows are drafty, you are essentially throwing money out the window every time the furnace kicks on.
By installing high-efficiency windows from Conservation Construction in the winter, you see an instant reduction in your energy consumption. Our modern windows utilize 3 layers of Low-E glass and argon gas fill to keep the heat inside where it belongs.
One of the biggest myths is that your house will be freezing for hours when the installation takes places. This is just no the case . . .Â
We prep the new window entirely before removing the old one.
The actual time the "hole" in your wall is open to the elements is usually only 10 to 15 minutes per window.
Our installers often work in teams to close off rooms, ensuring the rest of your home stays cozy while they work.

It is much easier to find a draft when it’s 20°F outside than when it’s 70°F.
Draft Spotting: Installers can easily identify exactly where air is leaking.
Moisture Check: Winter air highlights seal failures and condensation issues that might be invisible during the humid summer months. New windows prevent air infiltration so your heat stays in and the cold stays out.
A common concern is whether the sealant will work in the cold. Don't worry— our professional installers use high-performance, cold-weather silicones specifically designed to adhere and seal at temperatures well below freezing.

As the summer sun beats down, bringing with it sweltering temperatures and soaring energy bills, many homeowners find themselves in a familiar struggle. The air conditioning unit works overtime, yet the house remains uncomfortably warm, and the monthly electric bill climbs higher and higher. While a number of factors contribute to this summer predicament, one of the most overlooked solutions is also one of the most effective: installing new, energy-efficient windows. Far from being just a cosmetic upgrade, new windows are a transformative investment that can make a world of difference during the summer months.

The primary reason new windows are a summer superpower lies in their ability to dramatically reduce heat transfer. Old, single-pane windows or those with failing seals are essentially a thermal bridge, allowing the sun’s powerful infrared rays to pour into your home. This process, known as solar heat gain, forces your air conditioner to work harder to maintain a comfortable temperature. Modern windows, however, are engineered to combat this exact problem. They often feature multiple panes of glass, separated by an inert gas like argon or krypton. This gas-filled space acts as a powerful insulator, creating a barrier that significantly slows the transfer of heat from outside to inside.
Beyond the multi-pane design, a key player in our modern window technology is our Low-E (low-emissivity) glass. This is a microscopic, transparent metallic coating is applied to the glass, which is designed to reflect radiant heat. During the summer, this coating reflects the sun's infrared rays away from your home, keeping the interior cooler. This is a game-changer for homes with large, south-facing windows that would otherwise be a major source of heat gain. By blocking this invisible heat, Low-E glass allows natural light to enter without the accompanying warmth, giving you a bright, airy space that stays cool. Our windows come with 4 Layers of low-e coatings to ensure maximum energy efficiency.

The benefits of new windows extend beyond just keeping your home comfortable. The reduction in solar heat gain directly translates to significant energy savings. When your air conditioner doesn't have to work as hard, it consumes less electricity, leading to a noticeable decrease in your utility bills. This financial benefit is a compelling reason to consider an upgrade. While the initial investment in new windows may seem substantial, the long-term savings on energy costs can help recoup that expense over time, making it a wise financial decision for any homeowner. In fact, customers who have switched to new windows with Conservation Construction have seen a reduction in their energy costs by up to 40%.
Furthermore, new windows can improve the overall indoor air quality and comfort of your home. They can help reduce drafts, which are often a source of discomfort and can compromise the efficiency of your HVAC system. A well-sealed window also acts as a barrier against pollen and other allergens, which are prevalent during the summer months. This is particularly beneficial for those with allergies or respiratory issues, as it helps create a cleaner, healthier living environment.

Finally, the added benefit of UV protection is another compelling reason to consider new windows for summer. Our modern new windows with Low-E coatings block a significant portion of harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. These rays not only contribute to solar heat gain but also cause fading and damage to furniture, flooring, and artwork. By filtering out these rays, new windows help protect your valuable belongings from sun damage, preserving their color and condition for years to come.
In conclusion, new windows are much more than a home improvement project—they are a strategic investment in your comfort, finances, and well-being, especially during the summer. By leveraging advanced technology to block heat, reduce energy consumption, and protect your home's interior, new windows transform your living space into a cool, efficient, and comfortable sanctuary. As temperatures rise, the decision to upgrade your windows becomes not just a matter of convenience, but a smart choice for a cooler, more sustainable summer. Summer is officially here, and as the days get longer and the sun shines brighter, many of us are looking for ways to refresh our homes. While big renovations might be on hold, one surprisingly impactful upgrade that's perfect for the season is a new front door.
It might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but a new front door offers a host of benefits that truly shine during the summer months.

With vibrant flowers blooming and lush greenery all around, summer is when your home's exterior truly gets its moment in the spotlight. A fresh, stylish front door can instantly elevate your home's curb appeal, making it more inviting and picturesque. Whether you opt for a bold pop of color, a classic wood finish, or a sleek modern design, a new door can dramatically enhance your home's aesthetic and make a fantastic first impression on visitors or even just passersby enjoying a summer stroll.
As temperatures rise, keeping your home cool becomes a priority. Older doors can be surprisingly inefficient, letting cool air escape and warm air seep in. Modern front doors, especially those made with insulated materials and equipped with tight seals, offer significantly improved energy efficiency. This means your air conditioning unit won't have to work as hard, leading to a more comfortable indoor environment and potentially lower energy bills throughout the hot summer.
Summer often brings more open windows and doors, but your front door remains your primary barrier. A new front door comes with upgraded locking mechanisms and stronger materials, providing enhanced security for your home and peace of mind for you. Plus, a well-sealed door can help keep out summer pests like bugs and reduce outside noise, contributing to a more comfortable and serene living space.

Imagine stepping out for a summer evening or welcoming friends over for a barbecue, all through a beautiful, new entryway. There's a certain satisfaction that comes with a fresh update, and a new front door delivers an immediate "wow" factor. It's a relatively simple change that can make your entire home feel newer and more welcoming, perfectly complementing the light and airy feel of the summer season.

So, if you're looking for a impactful yet manageable home improvement project this summer, consider giving your home the gift of a new front door. It’s an investment that pays dividends in style, comfort, and efficiency all season long. You can reach out to us today for your free quote.Â

Beyond the obvious benefits of energy efficiency and enhanced curb appeal, a fresh set of windows can transform your living space into a more uplifting and enjoyable environment.
Natural Light
One of the most significant ways new windows boost your mood is by maximizing natural light. Older, inefficient windows often have thicker frames, smaller panes, or are simply not designed to let in as much light. Our modern windows, with their slimmer profiles and larger glass areas, flood your home with sunshine. Natural light is a powerful mood enhancer, known to alleviate symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD), improve focus, and even regulate sleep cycles. A brighter home simply feels more welcoming and optimistic. If you have cracked or broken glass it can really bring down the appeal of a home on the inside and outside of a home. Contact Conservation Construction today to see what new windows can do for you!Â
Outside World
Beyond light, new windows offer a better connection to the outside world. Clear, untinted glass and unobstructed views allow you to fully appreciate the changing seasons, the beauty of your garden, or simply the activity outside your door. This visual connection can reduce feelings of isolation and make your home feel more expansive and less confined. New windows with their clear views give you this, plus the added protection of Low-E coatings to ensure you get all the views without the heat from the sun!Â
Quieting Windows
Finally, the comfort and quiet new windows provide contribute significantly to a more peaceful mood. Enhanced insulation means fewer drafts and more consistent indoor temperatures, eliminating those nagging discomforts that can chip away at your sense of well-being. Furthermore, our modern windows are excellent at blocking out unwanted noise from traffic, neighbors, or even harsh weather. A quieter home is a more serene home, allowing for greater relaxation and less stress. Our customers have always told us and noticed a significant reduction in outside noise making their homes more peaceful and quiet.Â
Final Thoughts

Thinking about upgrading your windows before selling your home? You’re probably wondering how much do new windows increase home value—and the answer depends on a few key factors. From energy savings to curb appeal, replacement windows offer more than just a fresh look. They can influence how buyers see your home and how much they’re willing to pay for it. But not all upgrades deliver the same return. Material type, installation quality, and design choices all play a role in how much value a window project actually adds.
In this blog, we’ll break down what really matters when it comes to window replacement and resale potential. If you're planning to sell soon or just want to invest in your property wisely, understanding the value windows bring is a smart place to start.

Replacing outdated windows can shift how buyers perceive your entire home. Fresh, well-installed windows suggest care, energy efficiency, and modern style. They also boost curb appeal from the moment someone pulls up to the house. In today’s market, small visual upgrades like this play a major role in how quickly a home sells—and at what price.
According to industry reports, new home windows typically deliver a return on investment between 65% and 75%. The exact return depends on several factors, including:
Material used (vinyl, wood, fiberglass)
Total number of windows replaced
Age and condition of the home
Regional real estate market trends
Homeowners who invest in window upgrades often see the value returned quickly, especially in competitive neighborhoods where buyers expect modern, low-maintenance features.
Windows are among the first details buyers notice—both inside and out. Modern replacements add value by:
Brightening interiors with more natural light
Replacing old, worn, or warped frames
Improving indoor comfort through better insulation
Reducing the need for immediate repairs after purchase
These changes make the entire home feel fresher and more cared for, which helps build buyer confidence. It’s a smart way to make a strong impression before the first tour even begins.
Energy efficiency is one of the top features buyers look for in a home, and windows play a big role in that decision. New windows help reduce heat loss in the winter and keep interiors cooler during the summer. That performance lowers utility bills and makes daily living more comfortable. Buyers often associate updated windows with a home that has been well cared for.
Energy performance plays a major role in how buyers evaluate a home. When windows lack insulation or leak air, comfort and cost quickly become concerns. Modern replacements solve that problem with smart upgrades that go far beyond the basic glass panes of older models. For homeowners looking to boost property value, the right energy-saving features are worth the investment.

New window designs focus on reducing heat transfer, managing sunlight, and limiting drafts. Buyers pay attention to these features, especially when they’re trying to estimate long-term savings on energy bills. Homes that feel comfortable during a showing, without a noisy HVAC system constantly running, leave a better impression.
Some of the most valuable energy-efficient features include:
Double or triple-pane glass that adds layers of insulation
Low-E coatings that minimize solar heat while allowing natural light in
Gas fills, like argon or krypton, between panes to reduce thermal conductivity
High-performance weather stripping that seals gaps and prevents airflow
These elements do more than just make a room feel comfortable. They help maintain steady indoor temperatures year-round, lower utility costs, and reduce the strain on heating and cooling systems. Buyers see those advantages as immediate wins, especially when looking at homes with similar price points. Energy-saving windows offer peace of mind that lasts well beyond closing day.
A home’s exterior sets the tone before a potential buyer ever walks inside. Windows are one of the most visible and defining features, making them a key part of curb appeal. When they look clean, updated, and well-matched to the rest of the exterior, the entire property feels more put together. That first impression can spark interest before a showing even begins.
Modern windows come in a variety of styles, colors, and frame finishes that suit everything from classic builds to contemporary designs. Homeowners have more options than ever when it comes to customizing their look. From bold black frames that create contrast to softer tones that blend with trim and siding, the right window choice can pull an exterior together visually.
Outdated windows do the opposite. Peeling paint, fogged glass, and warped frames age the home immediately. They hint at deferred maintenance and leave buyers wondering what else needs to be replaced. New windows instantly reverse that effect by bringing a fresh, finished look that lifts the entire facade.
Windows affect how your home is judged during the appraisal process. When they show signs of wear or poor performance, they can pull down the overall value of the property. Appraisers look at more than style. They check for durability, insulation performance, and long-term reliability.
These window problems stand out to inspectors and appraisers:
Rot around the window frame or sill
Persistent drafts coming through closed windows
Fog or condensation between glass panes
Difficulty opening, closing, or locking
Visible warping, peeling, or cracked trim
During a walkthrough, appraisers take note of the window’s age, condition, and functionality. Older windows that lack efficiency or show signs of damage are seen as future repair costs. That affects how much the home is considered worth in its current state.
Buyers often respond quickly to window problems by lowering their offer or asking for credits. When they see outdated, damaged windows, they may start looking for other hidden issues. Instead of focusing on the home’s strengths, their attention shifts to what needs fixing, and that changes the entire tone of the deal.

Window replacement is one of the few upgrades that brings both immediate benefits and long-term resale value. It improves comfort while you live in the home and offers a strong return when it’s time to sell. The key is knowing what you’re investing in and how to approach it strategically.
On average, homeowners spend between $600 and $1,200 per window, depending on size, material, and installation needs. Full-home window replacement projects may range from $8,000 to $15,000 for a standard property. Premium materials and custom designs may increase that number.
Window replacement usually offers a return on investment between 65 and 75 percent. Several factors influence the final value, including:
Market conditions in your area
Choice of material such as vinyl, wood, or fiberglass
Quality of installation and energy-saving features
Overall condition and appearance of the rest of the home
Homes in competitive markets often see stronger returns, especially when the windows contribute to a turnkey, move-in ready look.
Window replacement makes the most financial sense when the current ones are outdated, drafty, or visibly worn. It also pays off when buyers expect energy efficiency, modern design, and lower maintenance. If you're already updating siding, roofing, or exterior paint, pairing that work with new windows helps tie the whole look together and boost overall value.
New windows add more than resale value—they improve how a home feels and functions every day. Homeowners often notice the difference immediately, from quieter rooms to more consistent indoor temperatures. These upgrades go well beyond appearance and touch nearly every part of daily life at home.
Modern windows are built to block out heat, cold, and noise. The benefits show up quickly:
Better temperature control from room to room
Less outside noise filtering into the home
UV protection that helps protect furniture and flooring from fading
More natural light without the heat gain
These features create a more peaceful and consistent indoor environment.
Older windows often stick, peel, or collect moisture. New designs eliminate many of those problems. With weather-resistant frames and factory-applied finishes, today’s windows hold up longer and require less hands-on care.
Security has come a long way in window design. Updated models include improved locking mechanisms, stronger glass, and tighter seals. These small upgrades help homeowners feel safer while adding another layer of appeal for future buyers.
Modern windows do more than look good. They deliver everyday benefits that increase comfort, reduce stress, and make homeownership easier overall.

High-quality windows only perform as well as their installation allows. Even the best materials fall short if frames are uneven, seals are loose, or the glass is improperly fitted. Poor installation can lead to drafts, leaks, and a drop in energy performance—all of which cut into the return on investment.
When window installs are rushed or handled without care, issues start to show quickly:
Reduced energy efficiency due to air leakage
Misaligned frames that cause sticking or sagging
Water intrusion that leads to hidden damage
Shortened lifespan of the window unit itself
These problems hurt both comfort and home value.
At Conservation Construction, we handle every part of the window installation process with attention to detail. Our team begins with careful measurements and expert recommendations based on your home’s layout. Once materials are selected, we install each unit with a clean, efficient process that protects your home throughout.

Wrestling with an old window can be a real pain! There are several reasons why older windows often become stubborn and resist opening. It's usually a combination of time, the elements, and the materials they were made from.
Then there's the issue of warping and swelling. Wood, a common material in older windows, is susceptible to changes in humidity and temperature. This can cause the wood to warp, twist, or swell, leading to a tight fit within the frame. Suddenly, the once-smooth movement is now a struggle against misaligned parts. If any of these things are happening it’s a great time to get new window replacement. Conservation Construction can help you out with a free quote!Â
Old aluminum windows can swell and contract with exposure to sun in the windows. This moves the medal out of position over time making it very hard to even be able to move the windows let alone open them for a breeze. If you’re old aluminum windows are stuck, it's a great time to consider getting new window replacement.Â
Rust and corrosion can also play a role, especially in older metal-framed windows or those with metal hardware like pulleys and tracks. Over time, these components can seize up, hindering the window's ability to slide or pivot. Â
Finally, neglect and lack of maintenance contribute significantly. Without regular cleaning and lubrication, dust, dirt, and debris can accumulate in the tracks and mechanisms, further impeding movement. Similarly, if broken or damaged parts aren't addressed promptly, they can worsen over time and make the window even harder to open. If you have any of these problems happening with your old windows, it’s time to switch to new window replacement.Â
So, while old windows can have a certain charm, their age often brings with it a host of issues that make the simple act of letting in some fresh air a frustrating chore. If you switch to new energy efficient, functional windows they slide easily for life and have a lifetime limited warranty. Please reach out to us today if you’d like a free quote for new window replacement.Â

Window grids, those lines that divide a windowpane into smaller sections, are more than just a decorative touch. They play a significant role in a window's overall aesthetic, functionality, and even its historical accuracy. Understanding the different types of window grids can help you make informed decisions when choosing or replacing windows. Â

What are Window Grids?
Window grids, also known as muntins, are the dividing elements that separate a window into multiple panes of glass. Originally, they were essential for structural integrity, as large panes of glass were difficult and expensive to produce. Smaller panes, held together by grids, provided the necessary strength. While modern manufacturing allows for larger, single-pane windows, grids remain popular for their aesthetic appeal and historical accuracy. Â
Materials Used for Window Grids
The material of the window grid influences its durability, maintenance needs, and overall appearance:Â
Vinyl: A low-maintenance and cost-effective option. Vinyl grids are resistant to rot and decay and come in various colors. Â
Fiberglass: Known for its strength and stability, fiberglass is resistant to warping, cracking, and rot. Fiberglass grids offer a good balance of durability and aesthetic appeal. Â
At Conservation Construction we sell both types of these amazing windows to fit any homeowner's needs.Â

Benefits of Window Grids

While most homeowners might associate window replacement with the warmer months, winter can actually be an ideal time to invest in new windows. From cost savings to convenience, there are several compelling reasons why you should consider upgrading your windows during the colder season.
One of the key advantages of replacing windows in the winter is the reduced demand for installation services. Some people may put off home improvement projects during the cold months, meaning our demands are less busy than they are in peak seasons. As a result, you can enjoy faster scheduling, greater availability, and potentially quicker installation times.Â

Replacing old, drafty windows in the winter can immediately make your home more comfortable. Cold air often seeps in through outdated or damaged windows, making it harder to maintain a warm indoor temperature. By installing energy-efficient windows, you can keep the heat inside, reduce drafts, and cut down on your heating costs. Our modern windows are equipped with features like double or triple panes, 4 layers of low-E coating, and argon gas fill that significantly improves insulation and prevents heat loss.
In winter, you can start seeing the benefits of these energy-efficient windows immediately, as they help maintain consistent temperatures indoors and lower your heating bills. This improvement in your home’s insulation will be especially noticeable when outdoor temperatures are at their lowest. In fact, customers who switch to new insulated windows from Conservation Construction have noticed a significant reduction in their energy costs.Â
In the cold months, when heating costs tend to rise, the energy savings provided by new windows can quickly offset the initial cost of installation. This is particularly true for homes with older, inefficient windows that allow heat to escape. You’ll not only save money on your energy bills but also enjoy increased comfort in your home during harsh weather conditions. You will get more stable room temperatures all year long.Â
Additionally, new windows can increase the value of your home. Many buyers are looking for energy-efficient features, and upgraded windows are an attractive selling point. Installing new windows in the winter can set you up for long-term savings and an increase in home value.

Although replacing windows involves some disruption to your daily routine, it's often less impactful during the winter months. With colder temperatures outside, you’re likely to spend more time indoors anyway, which makes it an ideal time to have work done in your home. Are installers are trained and prepared for winter installations and can get your job done effectively and efficiently.Â
If you have old or damaged windows, winter weather can exacerbate the issues. Drafts, water leaks, and condensation problems can worsen during the colder months, leading to more significant damage to your home. You will spend a significant amount more with old windows than with new ones. By replacing worn-out windows before they can cause further harm, you can prevent issues like mold growth, water damage, and deteriorating window frames from taking a toll on your property.
Winter is often overlooked as an ideal time to replace windows, but the benefits are clear. From cost savings and faster service to energy efficiency and improved comfort, there are plenty of reasons to tackle your window replacement project in the colder months. If you need to replace your windows it’s a perfect time to do so. Contact us today for your free quote and 25% off window replacement. Such inclusions not only make them more energy efficient but also make them durable and robust. Our patio doors can save you up to 40% off your total energy costs.Â

Windows can be designed to let natural light in while minimizing the amount of heat that enters a building. This can be achieved through a combination of factors like the way the windows are engineered with glazing materials, coatings, and energy efficient frames. Here's how it works . . .
The orientation of windows plays a significant role in controlling heat gain. In hot climates, windows that face east and west receive direct sunlight during the hottest parts of the day. To minimize heat gain, it's better to have windows on those sides especially that are energy efficient.Â
Window glazing (the glass part of the window) can have different properties that affect how much heat is transmitted. Windows like the ones we sell at Conservation Construction have multiple Low-emissivity (low-e) coatings that are applied to the glass to reflect infrared heat while allowing visible light to pass through. Our windows have an astonishing 4 layers of this low-e coating to protect your home from the heat and infrared.Â
These coatings are solar reflective films that reflect a portion of the sunlight and heat. These coatings can block a significant amount of infrared radiation, which is responsible for heating up spaces. You can count on ourÂ
Natural ventilation, like the kind we offer on our new operable windows, can help create cross-ventilation and promote airflow, allowing warm air to escape and cooler air to enter the building.
In addition to the glazing, the window frames are also well-insulated to prevent heat from transferring through the frame material. Old aluminum frames expand and contract with the heat causing seals to break. New Vinyl Frames don’t expand or contract with the heat and are filled on the sides and top with foam to create even better insulation.Â
All of the windows at Conservation Construction are energy efficient and come with all of the things listed above.Â
If you are choosing the right option for your climate, explore Best Windows for Colorado to see which features deliver comfort and efficiency year-round.Â
By combining these elements, our windows allow natural light to enter while minimizing heat gain. If you are in need of new window replacement you can visit our website today for your free quote. Thank you for reading the article and we will see you next week for another one.Â
When it comes to home improvement, investing in new windows, siding, and doors can significantly enhance the aesthetics, energy efficiency, and overall functionality of your living space. These crucial components of your home play a vital role in protecting you from the elements, ensuring security, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. In this article, we explore the numerous benefits that arise from upgrading your windows, siding, and doors, demonstrating how these improvements can transform your home into a more comfortable, stylish, and energy-efficient haven.
One of the most significant advantages of installing new windows, siding, and doors is the substantial improvement in energy efficiency. Outdated or poorly insulated components can contribute to significant energy loss, leading to higher utility bills and a less comfortable living environment. Modern windows, siding, and doors are designed with advanced materials and technologies that provide better insulation, effectively reducing drafts and preventing heat transfer. This enhanced energy efficiency not only reduces your carbon footprint but also helps you save money on heating and cooling costs year-round.
Old and deteriorating windows, siding, and doors can allow outside noise, drafts, and temperature fluctuations to permeate your home. Upgrading to new, high-quality materials will greatly improve your comfort levels by minimizing unwanted noise, maintaining consistent indoor temperatures, and preventing air leaks. Additionally, advanced window designs with multiple panes, Low-E coatings, and gas-filled chambers provide superior insulation, creating a more comfortable living environment throughout the year.
New windows, siding, and doors can significantly enhance the aesthetic appeal of your home. By choosing modern window designs that maximize natural light, you can create a bright and inviting space. Additionally, stylish and well-maintained siding and doors can transform the exterior of your home, boosting its curb appeal and leaving a lasting impression on visitors.
Windows, siding, and doors are key elements in protecting your home from intruders and external threats. Outdated or damaged components can compromise the security of your property. By installing new windows with sturdy frames, and advanced locking mechanisms, you can significantly deter potential break-ins and ensure the safety of your family and belongings. Upgrading to durable and robust doors, along with reinforced siding, can provide an additional layer of security against the outside elements.
Older windows, siding, and doors often require frequent maintenance and repairs to keep them functional and aesthetically pleasing. By investing in new, high-quality materials, you can minimize the need for ongoing maintenance and enjoy long-lasting durability. Modern window frames, sidings, and doors are often constructed from low-maintenance materials like vinyl, fiberglass, or cedar ridge, which resist rotting, warping, and fading. This means less time and money spent on repairs and refinishing, allowing you to focus on other aspects of homeownership.

You don’t just have to have a garden in your backyard any longer. What do you mean, you may be asking. Well, if you get a Garden Window you can have a garden on the inside of your home, too. In this article we’ll cover all things garden window related. If you’ve been dying to know the answers to questions like . . . What is a Garden Window? Are Garden Windows energy efficient? What are Garden Windows used for? Keep reading to learn the answers to these questions and much more.Â
Garden Windows, also known as Greenhouse Windows, project outward from an existing structure to create an environment suitable for growing plants indoors without the need for a full greenhouse. Garden windows are the perfect solution when outdoor space is limited, or when a full-sized greenhouse is not in the budget. You can tell if someone has a Garden Window from the outside of the home as they do project outward. They also give you additional space in your home, even if you just put objects in the window instead of plants.Â
Garden windows bring more light into the room than a flat window, and if you choose one that will open, it can provide more fresh air as well. Even if it's a small window the extra light and source of air can be refreshing. You can create more shelf space in the window area for the room with a garden window.Â
Because garden windows are so well insulated, they are more energy-efficient for homeowners. If you go with a Garden Window from Conservation Construction, you’ll get even better energy efficiency. That’s because our glass includes specialty coatings which increase energy efficiency, protect the inside of your home from being bleached, and naturally clean the glass for you.Â
Garden windows are like mini-greenhouses that extend out from your home. You can grow herbs and other plants year-round in a garden window, which makes them perfect for a kitchen window. Garden windows don't open traditionally, but they have side vents that open for cross ventilation. All of these things make them optimal for plant growth.Â
A garden window can actually be put in almost any regular window, but most homeowners swap out the window above the kitchen sink for a garden window because typically the area over the sink and countertop in the kitchen is a little dark. This is just something to think about when you are considering a Garden Window.Â
In conclusion, a garden window is a great way to grow plants, add natural light, add space, create breezes, and increase energy efficiency. It’s hard to believe that one window could do all of this, but it can. Garden Windows are truly extraordinary indeed. If you would like your free quote for a new Garden Window you can contact us today for your free quote. Thank you for reading, and please comment below with what you learned in the article.Â
What is a picture window? Do you have one in your house already? What makes a picture window unique? In today’s article we’ll be covering all these questions and more about the picture window. It’s time to get excited about this amazing picture window so please keep reading to learn more.Â
A picture window is exactly what it sounds like: a window that creates an unobstructed picture of your outside surroundings. A picture window consists of a single pane of glass without any rails to obstruct the view. Also known as fixed windows—because they don't open —picture windows let in lots of light. Having them as a fixed rather than opening window reduces the frame size so as not to detract from the view outside. If you have a beautiful surrounding outside, a picture window is a great way to be able to see it every day.Â
You can tell if you already have a picture window if you have the type of frame or glass described above. If you have a large fixed window you can tell you have a picture window. But you can switch out a large window with a grid pattern in it to a picture window if you’d like to have better views. Ask one of our experts today about how to get a picture window in your own home.
It might seem challenging to determine when to replace your picture window, but there are a few telltale signs. Feeling a breeze inside your home isn’t normal unless you turn on your AC. If you feel one near your window, then the seal around the frame might be damaged, which means you need to replace the window. In addition, excess noise can travel in your home if the picture window is old. If either of these things are happening it’s time to replace your window. That being said you don’t have to wait for these things to occur to get the window replaced. If your window is over 20+ years old it’s well past time to get your window replaced.Â
Because picture windows are stationary and sealed directly within the frame, they are energy efficient by design. Add in the higher grade of Low-E glass that Conservation Construction uses to boost the efficiency, and comfort levels in summer and winter go up exponentially. In fact, our windows have been known to save the average homeowner up to 40% off their total energy costs. If you have noticed your HV/AC system coming on more often than necessary, new windows help reduce the amount it kicks on.Â
All of the products we sell come with Lifetime Limited Warranties to ensure that our customers have a product that lasts for decades to come. The windows are meant to function and stay energy efficient for life.Â

Don’t believe all the myths you hear about Window and Door Replacement. When it comes to windows and doors, there are a ton of misconceptions out there. In today’s article we’ll debunk some of the most common misconceptions about these types of replacements, and maybe even give you some great information on your own home improvement projects moving forward.Â
Myth #1
We’ve all heard people say, “It wouldn’t be worth it financially in the long run to replace my windows and doors.” So they spend years putting up with old windows and doors which don’t function, are cracked, and are basically letting in all the air from outside. While it is true that replacing your windows and doors does require an initial investment, it is a valuable investment to your home in the long-term. Did you know that out of date windows and doors account for 25%-40% of energy loss in a home. They could be costing you way more than you even realize. That’s a scary number when you consider how much you run your AC in the Summer and furnace in the Winter. New Windows and Doors are virtually maintenance free too so you won’t have to upkeep them like other items in your home.Â
Myth # 2
There are a lot of people out there who think that repairing is the way to go. This doesn’t actually give you the energy efficiency you’re hoping for in the long run. It may look different, and it may even feel different too, but lurking underneath those superficial changes is still an old, inefficient structure. Opting for new, modern, high-performance, and technologically sound windows and doors not only offers you the cosmetic look you desire, it actually saves you money in the long run. Efficient, state of the art products like the ones at Conservation Construction give you a relief from your high energy bills. Our Windows and Doors can save you up to 40% off your total energy costs.Â
Myth #3Â
So not true! There are all sorts of different types of windows and doors, and each one has its own unique benefits and drawbacks. For example, double-pane windows are much more energy efficient than single-pane windows, but they're also more expensive. Fiberglass and Steel Entry Doors give you better energy efficiency than Wood Doors. New Entry Doors can come in a wide variety of styles, too. So, you'll need to decide what's most important to you before you choose which type of window or door to buy.Â
Myth #4
This is another myth that is simply not true. Energy Efficient Windows and Doors are not efficient unless they are installed by professionals who know what they are doing. At Conservation Construction have the decades of experience needed to get your job done the right way the first time. This means your windows will be providing optimum energy efficiency and protection against the outside from the first day they are installed and for decades after that.Â
These are just some of the myths that come along with Window and Door Replacement. Have you heard any other weird myths yourself that you’d like us to debunk? Let us know in the comments below. How To Transition Your House From Summer To Fall
Autumn always seems to come out of nowhere. One minute we’re in the middle of Summer and then all of the sudden the morning starts to feel freezing, and that familiar smell of fall hits the air. Since we’re close to the shorter days and colder weather, we thought it fitting to give you some tips and tricks for ways to transition your home from Summer to Fall. Keep reading to learn some great tips!Â
This is an easy step to get ready for the Fall and Winter months. If you have a lighter comforter you have used over the Summer, you can switch it out for a heavier duvet if you want to keep warm as the cold air blows in. This takes mere minutes, but your other comforter may need a wash before you put it on your bed.Â
Create new displays to transition your home into the fall months. Pumpkins, acorns, and even leaves can make a huge difference to transform your home from a summer feeling to a fall feeling.Â
You can decorate your windows and doors with fall dĂ©cor as well. Real pumpkins add a beautiful touch and a warm welcome. Displays in the windows with candles or hanging plants can really add a touch of elegance to your home. All of these fall colors can add warmth and depth to any space.Â
If you’re looking to get extra energy efficiency this Fall and Winter season you can always consider getting new windows and doors. Exterior windows and doors, if old and worn out, can cause you to loose an additional 15-20% of your energy through the cracks. New Windows and Doors can give you up to 40% off your total energy costs. That is huge savings all year long and you’ll have more stable room temperatures for a more comfortable home.Â
Get your garage in order so you can actually park in there when it’s cold! Garages do indeed suffer a lot of abuse in the summer, and things get messy in there, crowded, and dirty. If you can’t park your car in the garage currently, it’s a great time to clean it out so when the snow and cold come you don’t have to scrape.Â
Clean up your front and back entryways by getting rid of any summer shoes and jackets and replace them with fall and winter items which you’ll need when the weather turns cold.Â
To get your home fully ready for the season, explore Fall Front Door Decor Tips and Preparing for Replacement Windows for both style ideas and practical upgrades.Â

Keep reading to learn more about window installation and what you need to get ready before you get your new windows . . .Â
The most important thing that you as a homeowner must do before you get window replacement is to take down the blinds or any window covers like drapes. This is essential to window replacement because it gives the installers clear areas to work when they take out the windows. All homeowners should complete this task the day before window installation is set. Â
Installers will repeatedly walk in and out of your home and move room to room. You don’t need to clear everything out, just make sure they have easy access by clearing the way. You especially want to move anything fragile near the windows like plants so they don’t get harmed during the window installation process.Â
Dust covers are a great way to keep your furniture and floors free from debris when the windows are installed. Here at Conservation Construction we put down some covers for you so that your home remains dust and debris free. If, however, you’d like more protection, you can place down additional covers to protect your valuables. There’s nothing wrong with multiple layers of protection!
Pictures are possibly the most vulnerable object in the home when it comes to Window Replacement. If you have expensive artwork or pictures near the windows it is best to take them down before installation. This way they don’t get knocked off the wall with the vibrations that can be caused with hammering, and other tools.Â
Unlike other companies out there, Conservation Construction installers take the time to clean up after themselves. We clean up debris, dirt, and dust, leaving your home looking the same way it did when we first arrived. We even vacuum around the windows and floor. You truly can’t find a company more dedicated to every aspect of your window installation than Conservation Construction.Â
To make the most of your upgrade, explore Halloween Window Decorations and What Is House Wrap for both creative ideas and added protection insights.Â
In conclusion, remember to clear any valuables out of the way like pictures. Keep the walkways clear, and remember to cover any furniture you’re worried about accumulating dust and debris. Remember that if you go with Conservation Construction we clean up after ourselves and pre-cover certain objects to ensure a clean house when we leave. How much can old windows, patio doors, and front doors be costing you in overall energy efficiency? A ton. In fact, it is a well known fact that 25-30% of your energy can simply leak out of your home with old windows alone. Old entry doors and patio doors can additionally contribute 10-15% in energy loss. That is a ton of your HVAC leaking through gaps in your home. Stop paying to cool and heat the outdoors. Keep reading to learn more about energy efficient exterior replacement products, and how they can save you a ton of money on energy costs.Â
The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that you'll save between $126 to $465 a year by replacing single-pane windows in your home. At Conservation Construction, our windows are designed with energy efficiency in mind. We have a patented 12 layer formula to coat our windows. This coating, known as LoE-366 Glass Coating, is one of the most energy efficient window systems on the market today. That’s because it bounces harmful UV rays back outside keeping your home cool, and your furniture free from getting bleached by the sun. This coating, while extremely energy efficient, doesn’t block the view like window tinting would. You’ll get a perfect view and protection from the sun. This also means that your house will stay cool because those harmful rays won’t be heating up the interior of your home--even if you keep the shades open!

We measure the door to fit snugly so that it is sealed to utmost perfection. No gaps and an extremely tight seal mean that you get better overall energy efficiency and reduced air infiltration. Not to mention that your door will be a stable temperature to the touch on the inside in extreme heat or cold.Â
If you have an older sliding door leading to your patio, you absolutely can cut your energy consumption and costs by simply replacing this too. With the A/C Running it’s always good to make sure your windows, siding, and doors are working for you and not against you. They should keep all that cool air you’re pumping into your house inside, and keep all that hot air outside. The fastest way to get top-notch energy efficiency is to replace old windows, siding and doors with new energy efficient products like the ones we sell at Conservation Construction. New energy efficient windows, siding, and doors can reduce your energy costs by up to 40%. That’s a huge savings when you think of year long bills and all around comfort. A new thermostat can help you reduce your costs because you can regulate the temperature of your home from wherever you are. This means if you left the A/C on high unnecessarily, then you can adjust it while away to save you money on those costs. A smart thermostat has been known to save users up to 8% off their total energy costs. This savings is still significant!Â
Everyone always tells you to keep the fridge closed. But did you know that keeping your fridge and freezer full can also save money? Food acts as insulation and lessens the amount of time that the fridge has to run to stay cool. Additionally, adjust the temperature of your fridge and freezer just a little and this can also reduce your energy costs significantly. If your storage temperatures are just 10°F lower than necessary, your refrigerator can use up to 25% more energy!Â
It sounds simple, but most people don’t do it. If you simply shut off your computer at night it can save you money. Even hitting the power button on one computer that you often leave on during the work week and sometimes over the weekend can save you $34 a year. New Windows, especially the ones we provide at Conservation Construction, include amazing energy efficient properties. These windows can reduce energy costs in your home by up to 40%. This means you’ll be more comfortable through summer months into Autumn and Winter. New Window Frames are foam-filled on the sides to ensure extra energy efficiency and protection against air infiltration. Additionally, our windows have a protective 4 layer coating which includes three layers of silver. This coating bounces harmful UV rays back outside, and protects your home from becoming bleached. We guarantee that you’ll enjoy this article about Memorial Day. There are lots of facts surrounding this holiday you may not know. So before you kick off the BBQ and celebration over the weekend, read this article to share facts with your friends.Â
Memorial Day wasn’t always called Memorial Day. It used to be called Decoration Day. To honor deceased soldiers people would decorate the graves of their fallen comrades with flowers, flags, wreaths, and other things--hence the name Decoration Day. It wasn’t legally called Memorial Day until 1967 even though the title for the holiday changed in the 1880’s.Â
Fact #2
In late 2000 Congress legally passed a bill requiring Americans to pause at 3pm on Memorial Day to remember the fallen. It may not be a very widely known law however as I have not seen people practicing this on Memorial Day myself.Â
Memorial Day used to be celebrated on the last day of May. General John Logan, a commander for the Republic, called for there to be a day of remembrance for fallen soldiers to be observed on the last day of May. It was later changed to be the last Monday of May so the public could experience a nice long weekend. There have been petitions passed around over the years to try and get Memorial Day moved back to the last day of May to separate it from other holidays.Â
Some states celebrate Confederate Memorial Day too. In addition to traditional Memorial Day, nine states officially set aside a day to honor those who died fighting for the Confederacy in the Civil War. These states include; Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Virginia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee.Â
The Poppy. The Remembrance Day symbolism of the poppy started with a poem written by a World War I brigade surgeon who was struck by the sight of the red flowers growing on a ravaged battlefield. From the devastated landscape of the battlefields, the red poppy would grow. Thanks to a famous poem, become a powerful symbol of remembrance.
Red poppy flowers represent consolation, remembrance, and death. There was a campaign to create a national symbol for Memorial Day and the Red Poppy was chosen. It was adopted and now they hand out the Red Poppies on Memorial day to remember the fallen.Â
Memorial Day is one of the few holidays where flags are flown at half-staff instead of full-staff. This tradition is to remember our fallen heroes.Â
Another tradition of Memorial Day is that the President of the United States will place a wreath for an Unknown Soldier at a tomb. Additionally, for decades, presidents visited the hallowed site as a way to pay tribute to all of those who died fighting for their country. In addition to laying a wreath, the president will give a speech at the nearby amphitheater.Â
That's it for these Memorial Day Facts. Finally, we cannot wait to see you next week for another article. What was your favorite fact? Let us know in the comments below. If you are in need of one of our products which include; Patio Doors, Siding, Windows, or Entry Doors please visit our website for your free quote.Â
There are so many good questions to ask when you are looking for replacement home windows. There is so much new technology out there when it comes to new windows that it’s good to have knowledge before you go into the replacement window process. In today’s article we’re going to cover great questions to ask when getting new replacement windows. If you have no knowledge about new replacement windows please read the article to learn more.Â
Warranties
Check the warranties to ensure the windows will truly stand the test of time. A lot of companies in the window market will claim “lifetime warranties,” but the warranty really only lasts 10 years. Here at Conservation Construction our lifetime warranties are true lifetime limited warranties that last decades and are even transferable. When it comes to warranty and window replacement you really can’t find a better one on the market today than the one we have at Conservation Construction. You can ask about our warranty today by getting your free quote for window replacement!Â
Protective Coatings
Protective coatings and window replacement are just standard on most windows. It’s important to remember to ask whether or not the windows you’re buying have these protective coatings. At Conservation Construction we use a specialty Low-E glass coating. This coating goes above and beyond regular protection. It includes 4 layers of protection with 4 layers to bounce harmful UV rays back outside where they belong. This not only protects your home from becoming hotter in the summer, it prevents your floors from becoming bleached by the sun. Additionally, we use another coating for the glass called Easy Clean Coating. This coating works with the sun to decompose organic matter from the glass. This leaves your windows cleaner longer without you having to do much maintenance at all.Â
Installation Experience
It’s always a good idea to ask how much experience their installers have. At Conservation Construction we have installers with decades of experience installing windows. This means when they install the windows they know how to do it right the first time. Remember, the window is only as efficient and functional if it’s installed properly.Â
What Time Of Year Is Best?Â
Replacing windows when the weather is warm but not too warm, say in late spring or early summer. This has several benefits . . . If you're replacing multiple windows, doing so while the weather is warm outside will help keep unwanted cold drafts from entering your home during the project. That being said, there are some advantages to installing windows in the winter. There are less people wanting to install windows at this time so it may be a quicker installation if you wait and decide to do it then.Â
If you are also planning exterior updates, read our blog, Good Questions To Ask Before Getting Siding Replacement, to make sure you are fully prepared before starting your siding project.Â

Have you ever wondered what exactly goes on in the window manufacturing process? In today’s article you’ll learn how we make our windows. On average, each home in the US Contains 10 Windows. Since there are so many homes across the country, it’s important that windows protect, insulate, and have clear views. Today, we manufacture Conservation Construction modern windows here in the United States. Our Windows start out in two separate pieces. First, glass is shipped to the warehouse and cut to fit individual orders. Each clear glass piece is coated with a Low-E glass coating and Easy Clean Glass Coating. These increase the R-Value of the window and keep the glass clean for better overall performance.Â
After the glass is cut to the desired shape, it is then sealed together with our Spacers. It rolls on wheels down the production line where it is then sealed around the outside and the spacers and glass. This prevents the spacers from moving. This is where gas tanks fitted with a needle inject the window with a special Argon Gas. This gas acts as an insulator between the window and the outside air.Â
The frames are made in a different part of the warehouse. Workers assemble the frame where the window will sit. They cut this frame to the same measurements as the window. This ensures the windows and the frame are a perfect fit! The frames are then sealed with caulk to ensure energy efficiency and an excellent seal.Â
In the last step the windows and frames are placed together to create the final window. A worker lays the finished gas filled glass panes into the vinyl frame. Using a special tool, they snip the vinyl in place to fit. The windows are now complete! They are ready to be shipped to you and placed in your home.Â
Custom windows like ours at Conservation Construction mean that you have a tighter seal. A tighter seal means it stops unwanted outside air from infiltrating into your home. This means a lower energy bill overall for the life of the window.Â
To see how these manufacturing details translate into real-world performance, explore Littleton home windows and discover what sets high-quality installations apart.Â

Who doesn’t love to have their windows wide open with the sun shining through? That’s not always the case when we have old windows which are cracked or which allow harmful UV rays inside. Some people get tinted glass which spoils the views, or keep the blinds shut to prevent sun bleaching or energy loss. We’re here to tell you, you don’t need to hassle with little or no views at all. You too can have a window which is energy efficient even with the blinds wide open. New windows are truly extraordinary. They have properties that no window of the past could offer. One of these amazing qualities is their ability to protect your home from the sun. This works in two ways. Keep reading to learn more about these amazing windows and how they help your home.Â
Our Windows Reflect the harmful UV rays back outside. This minimizes the energy costs in your home. Old windows let all that heat directed by the sun into your home. This can increase the amount your air conditioner is kicking on in the summer and increase your energy costs. We use a specialty LoE-366 Glass Coating. This works to reflect those harmful UV rays back outside, keeping the inside of your home a more stable room temperature. How this works is that there are three layers of microscopic silver inside the formula to reflect radiant heat back outside.
This coating, which is nearly invisible to the naked eye, stays on the glass for life giving you optimal temperatures inside your home for years to come. Finally, they also keep your home at a more stable room temperature in the winter time as well helping your furnace kick on less.Â
Have you ever experienced the awful side effects of bleached furniture and floors? When the sun streams through your windows day in and day out without the protective coatings listed above, it does have adverse effects on the objects inside your home. Your furniture, floor, and even knick-knacks can get bleached by the sun over time. This is a costly expense if you have to remove and replace these objects. Our new Windows have this coating in place to prevent bleached furniture. This coating was engineered to keep out those harmful UV rays outside while still letting all the sunlight stream in effortlessly. You won’t believe what a difference new windows with protective coatings can do for your home.Â
If you stick with your old windows know that the average cost you are losing through those windows is 25% to 30% in energy loss. The less efficient the window the higher your energy costs will be. Windows which are 20+ years old could be costing you even more than that. If your windows have gone way past their expiration date, we urge you to consider replacing them with new Windows. With all their energy saving properties, you’ll be seeing more money in your pocketbook to spend on what’s really important.Â
Old windows don’t protect your home from harmful UV rays. In addition, ancient windows could be costing you a ton of money in energy costs. Get new Windows and get protection from UV rays and beautiful views. Our windows will reflect radiant heat back outside and prevent your floors from becoming bleached. I love my windows. You could be saying this too when you choose new windows from Conservation Construction. My windows have beautiful views, slide easily, protect my home from the sun, and keep my home more comfortable all year long. Additionally, my windows are easy to clean and open wide for big breezes. I’ve had my new windows for almost 4 years now. In that time my energy bills have gone down dramatically and my mood has increased. Keep reading to learn more about how they have accomplished so much.Â
Before I got my windows replaced my old windows had huge cracks and obstructed views from condensation stuck between the glass. Getting new windows has drastically changed my mood because i couldn’t even see out of the windows before. Now I can see out of the windows clearly. In addition, the sunlight shines in and brightens my day without adding additional heat. That’s because of the additional coatings on my windows which protect from the sun but are virtually invisible to the naked eye. I take pride in sitting on my couch and admiring the beauty outside. All of these things have improved my mood. I would recommend getting new windows for this reason alone.Â
Because of the energy efficient coatings Conservation Construction uses and the way the windows are installed, they give me a ton of money off my energy costs. I remember when we first moved into our house with the old windows. I could literally feel breezes coming through cracks and holes in the windows. In the winter time the furnace would kick on at least 6-7 times a night--that’s how bad the windows were letting in the cold air. After the new Windows were installed that first winter, it made a world of difference. My furnace only kicked once a night after the new windows were installed. It significantly reduced the energy costs in our home. That first month I remember our bill going down by at least 40$.Â
Half of my old windows wouldn’t even open. It was miserable in the spring, summer, and fall as I couldn’t open the windows to even get a cross breeze going. Our house doesn’t have central AC so it was awful when I couldn’t get the old windows to even open. It’s so nice to be able to open my windows whenever I want now. I can let in breezes or just air out the house whenever I please. You take these little things for granted until you have them back! Stop living like I did and just get new windows your mood and pocketbook will thank you.Â
My Windows are incredibly easy to clean because the entire sliding part of the windows lifts out. This means I can clean the windows from the inside of my house. It’s so easy to wipe the glass and push the frames back in place. You won’t find a window easier to clean than the windows at Conservation Construction.
Take my word for it new windows are an incredible investment. They increase your mood and decrease your energy costs. They are easy to clean and operate. I love my windows and you could too if you get new window replacement from Conservation Construction. Click here to get your free quote. We can’t wait to hear from you. Do you find yourself shocked at just how often your furnace is kicking on this winter? Do you find yourself rolling your eyes at just how much money you’re spending on energy costs? Stop letting your precious money literally seep out the windows this winter season. There’s no doubt we’ve had a ton of snow the past couple of weeks here in Colorado, and your windows should be working for you instead of against you. Keep reading to learn more about how new windows can help you save energy this cold season and throughout the year.Â
Insulation
How do our windows save you money all year round. Insulation is the key component. We pipe specialty Argon Gas into every window we sell. This gas sits in between the panes and is denser than air or argon gas alone. It creates a cushion of insulation to protect the outside air temperature from the inside air temperature. This means you get optimal protection against the cold night air.Â
Foam Filled Frames
Our windows are made to order and cut to fit. This means they sit inside the frame tightly. This means that air has a very difficult time infiltrating the inside of your home. In addition, we fill our frames with foam to create an even better barrier against the cold outside air. The foam insulates and protects the frame from becoming extremely cold or hot. When you touch the window frame it should remain a stable temperature.Â
How Much Can It Save You?
Our Windows From Conservation Construction can save you a ton of money off your total energy expenditure. In fact, customers who switch to new insulating Windows can save up to 40% off their total energy costs. That is huge savings when you consider all year comfort. These windows won’t just save you a ton of money in the winter, they will keep the cool air insulated in the summer so you spend less on air conditioning as well.Â
More Stable Room Temperatures
Can you ever even feel the air getting cold around as you sit and wait for the furnace to kick back on? Your home will have less drastic shifts in temperature with new windows. That’s because they keep the warm air inside while fighting drafts from the outside. Wouldn’t it be nice to feel comfortable in your home all year long?
Lifetime Warranties
All of our windows come with lifetime limited warranties. This means they will stay energy efficient for life. If anything ever goes wrong with the window we have it covered under the warranty. So you can rest assured that your windows will protect you against the heat or the cold for the life of the window!

Do you have a specific grid or pattern that you would like to have in your windows? How about no grid? Well, you’re in luck because at Conservation Construction we have you covered with whatever pattern you’d like to have in your window. We can build the window with your exact grid specifications. This really helps in Colorado specifically because we have a lot of controlled HOA’s that require specific types of looks and styles for individual neighborhoods. Keep reading to learn more about grid patterns in windows.Â
Although now they mostly exist as an aesthetic feature, grids used to serve an important function in windows. In the early 1600s, London had a shortage of glass. They sent some of the early settlers to create a glass factory in Jamestown due to the sandy beaches, which are great for producing glass. It was not easy to ship large glass panes without breakage. So, they shipped them in small sections. To create full-sized windows for themselves, early residents of the colonies connected the smaller panes with grids.
Grids, also known as mullions or grilles, are strips of a material like wood, metal, or vinyl that run in a grid formation on a window. Some homeowners love them because they create a classic, traditional look. At Conservation Construction our strips are vinyl and they do stand the test of time. Window grids make replacement windows look extra custom. These can be mixed into eclectic homes such as Victorians to create an eye-catching exterior.
Traditional window grids required the cleaning of each grid divider and glass pane individually. Today, a majority of multi-paned windows have the grills that are sandwiched between the panes, keeping the grids free of dust and making window cleaning so much faster and easier. Along with the gridded window’s aesthetic appeal and design, it packs benefits capable of lowering a home’s solar heat gain coefficient.
Grids in windows do not reduce the energy efficient properties of the window. Especially with Windows from Conservation Construction, our Argon gas mixture which helps insulate the window and keeps it energy efficient for life. In addition, our specialty coatings sit on the outside of the glass to bounce harmful UV rays back outside to keep your home a more stable room temperature all year long. Grids do not interfere with any of these properties.Â
Of course, there are no rules as to whether you should grill or not grill your windows, however, there are some considerations that could be taken into account. For example, if the view out of a window is very boring a gridded window may make the view out more interesting. Sometimes the view out of a window is so extraordinary that it should not be obstructed by a grill or busy grill pattern. These are all things to take into consideration when you think about new window replacement for your home.Â
Grids don't reduce the energy efficiency of new windows. Grids are also known as grills and patterns. At Conservation Construction we can match any pattern that your HOA requires. We can also just add a grid to fit your style. Consider grids for your own home before you purchase. Get your free quote for new window replacement today by clicking here. Life’s too short to be staring at dirty dingy old windows all day. I’m speaking from personal experience here. Such a simple home improvement project can make our day sunnier and happier. New windows can even help you spend less on energy costs. Keep reading to learn more about how new windows can accomplish all of this.Â
Improve Mood
When we first moved into our current home the windows were an absolute disaster. There were cracks in the glass, holes in the frames, fog stuck between the glass, and old aluminum. I literally could feel the breeze coming in on days when it was windy. One time when we were out of town we came back to water all over our hardwood floors because the gaps were so big and it had been raining outside. I didn’t realize this but that entire situation was affecting my mood. I couldn’t see the landscape outside of my house without having to see the awful condition my windows were in. It dragged down my happiness on a daily basis.Â
The best part about the new windows I got from Conservation Construction was hands down how it improved my mood. I could see outside and appreciate the lavender bushes outside. We could go out of town for a couple of days and not worry about our house getting water logged from all the holes. There was natural sunlight that came in that brightened my mood without having to stare at cracked and fog glass. It’s like the windows were my very own counseling session. They improved my mood so much. This is just one of the benefits you can get out of new windows too if you have the same issues going on.Â
Sun Without The Heat
Not only will new windows from Conservation Construction improve your mood, they will give you increased visibility without compromising the temperature inside your home. It’s neat that our company uses Low-E glass coating. This coating is practically invisible to the naked eye, but it creates a barrier between your home and the harsh UV rays. Believe me in Colorado the rays can get quite intense. This coating bounces the UV rays back outside while still allowing the sun to shine through. This means you’ll get more stable temperatures year round, while still experiencing all that gorgeous sunlight.Â
Decreased Spending
My energy bills decreased in both the Summer and Winter months due to the incredible insulation we place in the frames. In fact, most customers who choose Windows see a decrease in their energy costs by up to 40% off. This has got to be something that will also make you smile and improve your mood. I know it improved mine when we got new windows.Â

Fact #1: Vinyl siding is engineered with polyvinyl chloride — the third most popular synthetic plastic polymer in the world!
Fact #2: Greased Paper Windows Were Common in Ancient China, Korea, and Japan
Greased paper windows were widely used in the earliest cultures of Asia. The grease filled gaps between paper fibers and provided a diffused light source.
These windows were also used by American pioneers. Traditional glass windows were somewhat expensive during the 1800s, so greased paper provided a more affordable alternative.
Fact #3: More than 30% of homes in the U.S. have vinyl siding on them! That makes vinyl the most-used residential siding material in the nation.
Fact #4: Inefficient glazed doors and windows cost home-owners over 25% of their energy bills. This wasted money literally leaks out of your house’s openings.
Fact #5: Every Window Style Offers a Unique Function
Modern windows are available in various styles. These styles not only look different aesthetically, but they also function differently. For example, a slider window opens along a rolling track and can let in a significant amount of fresh air. On the other hand, a garden window offers the perfect spot to grow small plants or an herb garden.
Fact #6: Janus was known as the Roman God of beginnings, ending, doors and transitions. To honor him, Romans built their doors to swing into their homes, to welcome Janus and their guests in.
Fact #7:Doors are a symbol of hope and opportunity, as well being synonymous with communication and liberation.
Fact #8: The average homeowner can save up to 40% off their total energy costs by just switching to new windows alone. When you add in the energy saving properties of new doors and siding you can save a ton of your annual energy costs.Â
Fact #9: The oldest door is thought to be 5100 years old. It was excavated in Zurich and was aged by the tree rings in the wood.Â
Fact #10: Windows can also mean a transparent panel on an envelope to show an address.
Fact #11: Windows may entitle you to a tax credit. You may be entitled to a tax credit of up to $500** if you installed energy-efficient windows, skylights, doors or other qualifying items in 2018-2021.Â
Fact #12: Wooden siding is known to be one of the most expensive materials to replace, while aluminum and vinyl siding are generally cheaper

Who are your local Denver area window experts? It’s Conservation Construction of course. We’ve been removing and replacing windows in the Denver Metro Area since 1989. Locally owned and operated, we focus on quality products and customized customer service. That way when you need to get your windows replaced you feel 100% comfortable with the replacement windows--from project start to finish.Â
Now, let’s get into the specifics of why our brand of windows, the Conservation Window, is phenomenal. It’s not just our dedication to customer service, it’s the fact that we pay attention to the little details of the window. We’ve engineered every part of the window--right down to the small bottom drain--to withstand the test of time. Our owner custom designed these windows to meet the needs of the Colorado homeowner. He's lived here his entire life and knows how challenging this climate can take on windows. He set out to design a window that truly stood the test of time. Because these windows were specifically designed for the bipolar Colorado climate you get the best window for Colorado on the market today. These windows are able to withstand drastic fast temperature changes and harsh weather day in and day out.Â
The specifics of our window include;
All of these listed items work together to create strength and longevity for the window. The special gas mixture of Argon Gas insulates better than air between the pains and has been proven to perform better than just using air gas alone. We also make all our windows to order right here in Colorado. The gas is filled here (unlike other companies who manufacture and fill their windows in other states then transport them to Colorado). Other companies can’t fill their windows to the brim with gas like Conservation Construction does. This is because they are transferring it from a low altitude to our high altitude. Manufacturing the windows here in Colorado means our windows can be filled with more gas, and you’ll get a window which will insulates better.Â
The foam filled frame is a unique characteristic of Conservation Construction Window. We measure for the windows, then cut the frame down to size making an airtight seal. This is a totally unique patented way to install windows that only we offer. This allows for the tightest seal possible, and, on top of this, you’ll get foam filled sides to the frame so the window insulates even better. In the long run our customers have experienced an overall energy savings of up to 40% off their energy bills. That’s savings worth mentioning if you ask me.Â
The next two features work hand in hand so we’ll cover them together. Our windows come with Low-E and Easy Clean Coating. The Low-E glass is standard in all windows today no matter where you shop--even new builds must have Low-E glass. But what makes our Low-E glass different is the overall UV protection. When the temperature soars, ordinary window glass just can’t handle the heat, and tinted glass spoils the view. Low-E however, has been specially formulated to reject the sun’s heat without affecting the view. We use this Low-E Coating on all of our windows.Â
So, it lets more light in and keeps more heat out. So your home stays cool and comfortable. What’s more, Low-E provides exceptional fading protection as well. It blocks 95% of the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays (a leading cause of fading), so it will help your furniture, carpets, curtains and wall coverings stay beautiful for years to come.
Easy Clean coating comes into the picture next to keep those beautiful views. You’ll get shiny windows without even having to clean them. This coating sits on the window and works with those UV rays to decompose organic matter from the glass. So you’ll get a streak free shine of Windex without even having to Windex. Isn’t that exciting news?
All of the locks on our windows feature a two point locking system which sits atop the inside frame of the window. This ensures you’ll get protection and functionality. Finally our windows are easy to slide and operate, and they will stay this way for the life of the window. You’ll never struggle to open these windows. Trust me, I have these windows installed in my own home and they are an absolute dream to open and shut.Â
Our professionals have been installing windows for decades, and that’s just the kind of expertise you want when getting your windows installed. This way, the windows perform to the highest quality and last a lifetime.Â
A lot of companies say “Lifetime Warranties” but only mean 5-10 years. Our windows are warranties are truly lifetime warranties. If anything ever goes wrong with the window we’ve got you covered under the warranty, guaranteed.Â
So, if you’re looking for excellent windows installed by a team of professional who have your back and will assure quality throughout the entire process, go with Conservation Construction. Have you ever heard of window frames having foam in them before? Why in the world do our Windows have foam filled frames? That’s what we’ll be talking about in today’s article. Keep reading to learn more about our special windows and what the foam does to make them so extraordinary . . .Â
In the past old aluminum frames would expand and contract with the sun. Some people still have these ancient windows to this day. They didn’t hold the glass in place very long because of their capacity to hold extreme heat. Nowadays new frames are made from vinyl which stays at a stable temperature. This helps hold the glass in place, keeps the insulating gases between the panes, and prevents outside air infiltration. At Conservation Construction we’ve even designed a specialty vinyl window that not only lasts a lifetime, but keeps your home at a stable temperature for that time too.Â
One of the key and most important factors to our windows bringing down your energy loss is their foam filled sides. Foam is injected into the window frame on both sides of the window to ensure that the frames insulate better. This means if the hot or cold comes along it’ll stay outside blocked by the foam in the window frames. Additionally, with our new Windows in place, you won’t be able to feel the cold coming in from the outside as much as you would with your old windows. This blocks the most amount of air possible. It combines with the specialty Krypton/Argon gases we stick between the window panes to truly create a reduction in energy costs.Â
Another great thing about our phenomenal frames is that because they are filled with foam and construction for durability, things like water don’t affect the window. Our frames have custom bottom drains. This means if any water (even the tiniest amount) were to ever get behind the frame it would just roll down to the bottom of the window and out the bottom drain. The custom bottom drains we’ve designed are exclusive to Conservation Construction. No other company on the market has drains like this that protect from water damage. This means that older window frames, or windows you get from other companies, can allow the water to just sit in the frame and cause larger problems down the line such as mold or rotting.Â
So protection against air infiltration, better energy efficiency, and staving off water damage. If our windows can do all this and still be affordable what are you waiting for? Get your free quote for a new set of windows from Conservation Construction. Once you start seeing and feeling the difference you will wonder why you ever waited so long to get new windows in the first place. Comment below on what your favorite part of this article was. We can’t wait to hear from you! Thanks for reading today’s article and we will see you in the next one.
Hello and welcome to today’s article. Today we will discuss just how important it is to have easy to operate windows. You’ll learn when it’s time to replace your window, and how to get new functioning windows that work for life.Â
It’s easy advice, if you windows don’t open, it’s time to get new windows. I can tell you this, but I myself couldn’t open my windows for almost an entire year before i gave into getting new windows. I mean, you’d think the second they started to stick i would replace them, but i was being pretty stubborn about it for quite some time. There is no denying it. If your windows won’t even open then it’s time to get new windows. Not only are they not serving their purpose any longer. You should be able to get big breezes in the summer or simply be able to air out your house if you need to. Windows that open and shut give you so much more ease that it’s not even worth keeping your old windows any longer.Â
A lot of people in life want a quick easy fix for their windows. This means they try to repair the frame or go with a company that can repair the frame without having to fix the entire window. This couldn’t be a worse idea. Windows only function properly when each piece as part of the whole unit is holding up their end of the weight. You need a window that’s functional, energy efficient, and beautiful. Chances are if you just fix the frames you’ll get all the function without the beauty or energy efficiency. It is our professional opinion that it is best to get full window replacement instead of just fixing part of the window.Â
The Conservation window is perfect for all homes. It’s because the sum of the parts of the entire window work together to create a window that is energy efficient, functional, and beautiful for life. How do we accomplish this? For one thing, you’ll get steady track wheels which have low memory within the frame. This means they’ll slide easily for life with little effort at all. The frames integrate with the glass perfectly to give you superior protection from the sun while still providing high quality views. Finally we use specialty coatings and gas mixtures to ensure your windows insulate, protect, and keep your home a more stable room temperature all year long.Â
Let me tell you from personal experience how wonderful it is to be able to open my windows whenever the mood strikes. You take it for granted when you can only open one or two windows because those are the only ones that will open. Stop struggling today with your old windows and get new energy efficient windows today!

The storm over the past weekend was a doozy. We all know what it’s like to live in Colorado. One minute it’s sunny, the next it’s snowing. Heck, it could even be sunny and snowing at the same time. In Colorado you need a different kind of window, door and siding. Because our weather is so bipolar these products need to be able to withstand the harshest conditions. That’s why at Conservation Construction we’ve engineered products that last a lifetime in these conditions. Keep reading to learn more.Â
Our windows are unique in that we not only manufacture them in Colorado so they are made in our specific climate, but they were designed by a native Coloradan to ensure that they stand up against the harshest conditions. Our windows don't crack, warp, or leak. That’s because of all the specific things we put into the window including;
Platinum Elite Spacers
Easy Clean Coating
Low-E Glass Coating
Custom Bottom Drains
Custom Locks
Foam Filled Frames
All of these things work together to give you windows that block the harsh UV rays from entering your home, stabilize temperatures inside, keep furniture from bleaching, lower energy costs and so much more. If you are in need of new windows why not go with the kind that was made and manufactured for the Colorado weather? Go with a Window from Conservation Construction.Â
Additionally, most people don’t realize that up to 40% of there energy costs could be escaping through their front door alone. Drafts that come in under the door can get your pocketbook into serious trouble, especially in these cold conditions. Even a little bit of a draft constantly blowing into your home can keep your furnace running 24/7. New entry doors can save you so much on your energy costs. Not to mention, they are durable and safe. Their color stay technology means that everyday wear and tear doesn’t affect them. You can even get a touchless lock to ensure you never get locked out of the house again.Â
Perhaps the biggest energy suck of your entire home is old siding. Old siding doesn’t just drag down the look of a home, it makes your home more susceptible to things like mold, drafts, and critters. New siding can give you gorgeous vibrant color and lower energy costs for life. This means not only will you never have to paint again, you’ll get a significantly reduced energy bill for the rest of the time you own the home. Here at Conservation Construction we sell Cedar Ridge, James Hardie, Vinyl, and Steel Siding to meet each person's individual needs. Finally, all of our sidings are extremely impact resistant. This means even in a blizzard they will keep you safe from the storm.Â
It’s not even a joke! We do give lifetime limited warranties for all of our products! This includes sliding glass doors which we haven’t even mentioned yet. This means whatever happens we’ll have you covered under the warranty.Â
For a lighter look at home upgrades, check out our blog, Funny Facts About Windows, Siding, and Doors, and discover some surprising and entertaining insights about your home’s exterior.
Don’t let the next storm come in without considering switching out your windows, siding or doors. It will keep the cold out, save you money on energy costs, and keep your home looking pristine for years to come. Each of our products come with lifetime warranties and all of our quotes are free. Do you love the way snow looks on the mountaintops? How about the way it falls from the sky in delicate patterns and creates blankets of white over the ground? How about the way you feel while sipping a cup of coco by the fire while watching the snowfall outside? If you are anything like me you love watching the snow and the sense of quiet it brings to the world outside. Snow days are the best days. I love the snow, but I’m not so much of a fan of scraping, cold, and driving during the big storms.Â
What’s not fun is hearing the furnace click on every five minutes because all the warm air in your house is escaping outside through the cracks in your windows or doors. This is exactly what my furnace used to due every winter. It sucks! When Mother Nature brings cold weather it doesn’t always stay outside. Wind chill which blows in with the winter weather is a real problem if you have old doors and windows. If you are like me and can literally hear the money escaping through the cracks every time the heater turns on, it might be in your best interest to invest in your home.Â
I swear, before I replaced my windows and doors the air would literally get cold minutes after the furnace clicked off. Shouldn’t your home be working with you and not against you? In most cases you’d want your home to be working for you, right? At Conservation Construction our customers save up to 30% on their in home energy expenses just by switching out the windows and doors. That’s on average. If you have really old windows (like mine before I switched) with huge gaps in them it is possible to save even more. What’s that you’re imagining? The look of a lower energy bill? Don’t imagine any longer because that can become a reality now!Â
With new windows you’ll be able to keep the blinds open during the snow storms and not even worry about what the temperatures outside will be doing to your home inside. You can sit by the window, play games, and enjoy the views without feeling the cold air.Â
You’ll also be provided with Easy Clean coating on each window and patio door which uses the power of the sun to clean itself off. So after the storm blows over you’ll have squeaky clean windows. All this along with a lower energy bill will have you breathing a sigh of relief.Â

You may think those old aluminum windows you have still function, so what’s the point of getting new ones? Sure they are made of metal frames, but why spend the money to get new windows? Those old windows could be costing you a lot more than you know in energy costs than you might want to admit.Â
Today’s article I’ll be discussing my experience with old aluminum windows. Albeit my old windows wouldn’t even open. They were original to the house which was built in the 1980’s. Practically every window in the house was cracked, holy, or non functional. I could literally not even get the windows open without my husband's help because they required so much force. The blinds would blow in when breezes came by because of the gaping holes in the frames. Not to mention the fact that those holes allowed a lot of spiders inside the home.Â
Now, I’m just as frugal as one can be. I try not to spend extra money on anything in my house or other areas in my life, but these windows were causing me a lot of anxiety. I was embarrassed to have guests over because the views were so obstructed. On top of the cracks in the glass, my windows had huge condensation problems. After only a few short months I was more than fed up the windows. When I started working for a company that replaced windows, I thought, here’s my chance to get new windows. Long story short, I got my pricing, got the windows measured, and had them installed within a month.Â
A lot of people I know are frugal as well. When we hosted guests for the first time after we got the new windows my friend’s son said, “If anybody needed new windows it was you guys. I’m glad you replaced them.” He was ten when he told me this. If he noticed them, everybody else was noticing them too.Â
What a difference the windows made, truly. My windows were made of aluminum. This was standard practice back in the day, but there are several reasons to switch to a new vinyl window now. The main reason aluminum windows are holding you back is because they are not energy efficient. Old aluminum windows contract and expand with the sun’s heat. This is what often leads to those seal problems you see in the windows. They’d either break away from the glass when they are hot or melt the sealant between the glass causing goop to run down the windows. This leads to that condensation problem as well. Old aluminum windows leak out energy and could be costing you 25% more in energy costs year round.Â
Secondly, aluminum frame windows absorb the sun’s heat and are hot to the touch. This can increase the inside temperature of your home, and who wants that? There would be times I would try to open the windows and they would burn my fingertips. You know that can’t be energy efficient. New vinyl frames are foam filled to insulate better, and they stay at a stable temperature all year round. They don’t expand or contract with the sun.Â
Finally, old aluminum glass doesn’t have the energy efficient properties of today’s vinyl windows. New glass in our Windows is made to reflect the sun’s heat back outward, blocking the UV rays from entering your home or even damaging the glass. In fact, our LoE-366 Glass Coating keeps your home a more stable room temperature all year round, and prevents furniture and rugs from becoming bleached from the sun.Â
For a full side by side comparison of materials, be sure to read our blog, Vinyl vs Aluminum Windows, to see how the two options stack up in performance, durability, and efficiency.
In conclusion, don’t be stuck in a time warp so that when guests enter your house they feel like they were whisked back to another decade. New energy efficient products like the Conservation 5 Series window can save you a ton of money on energy costs and are a whole lot more functional than old aluminum windows. Our quotes are free and you can get windows installed fast and easy. Ask yourself if your windows still function or are they functional? Because there is a big difference.Â

The single hung window may seem unassuming and boring, but it’s the biggest window staple in most homes. Single hung windows are more prevalent in houses than any other type. Is this because they are not extraordinary? No. It just means that most people need this type of window in their home. In fact, if you go with a single hung window from Conservation Construction you’ll get a window that is truly unique & will stand the test of time.Â
For those of you out there who have not had to remove or replace your windows before you might not know the difference between a single hung window and other types of windows out there. You might not even be able to recognize this type of window if it were sitting in your home now, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have this type of window. A single hung window is called this because it has only one, yes one, moveable sash. The sash is the component of the window which slides to open and shut the window. Unlike a double hung window which has two sliding sashes, a single hung windows upper sash stays in place.Â
Single hung windows still open wide to ensure that you get big breezes when you want them, but shut securely for energy efficiency and safety. Our windows include a two point locking system that protects your home from unwanted guests. It also features easy slide tracks which means every time you open your window it’ll be easy peasy.Â
Here at Conservation Construction we use several different enhancements to our windows to ensure better overall energy efficiency than other windows on the market today. Our windows includes a specialty glass coating Low-E Glass Coating\ The coating is a low emissivity glass coating to ensure that UV rays are reflected back outward so your indoor floors and furniture don’t get bleached, and your house has more stable room temperatures all year long. Our patented formula includes three layers of silver for better light reflection overall. Secondly, our windows include a special gas formula of Argon gas, which sits between the glass to prevent air infiltration and create a pocket of insulation that is denser than air or argon gas alone.
Finally, our windows slide and bottom frame are filled with insulating foam to ensure protection against cold, heat, wind, and other extreme weather that might come your way. This insulates the window making it perfect for lowering energy costs. It’s all of these three things working together that gives you a window that can truly save you up to 40% off your energy costs.Â
Single hung windows are a little less expensive than double hung windows because both components don’t need to move. Really, if you are looking for a high quality window without compromise a single hung window should be able to offer you all the functionality, beauty, and energy efficiency of a double hung window without being so expensive.Â
All windows at Conservation Construction come with Lifetime Limited Warranties. This ensures that if anything ever goes wrong with the window you are covered. Other companies on the market today say they have a lifetime warranty, but they only last 10 years. Check out our warranty when you get your free quote to see why our warranty stands above the rest.Â

There are a ton of ways to get window replacement wrong. There’s keeping your old, dreary glass which is foggy and clouded with condensation. There are old aluminum frames which expand and contract with the heat. Some people even keep windows which can’t even open. So today, we’re going to get into the best practices for window replacement to ensure that you have the tools you need to get the best new window replacement.
The first way to get windows right is to go with a company like Conservation Construction who has been installing windows in Colorado since 1989. It’s our knowledge of the crazy Colorado weather that helped us create the most durable window on the market today for the Colorado climate. We’ve paid attention to window trends and even the small details on each window to truly create an engineered window that will last a lifetime. Cheap windows may last you a few years, but quality components like the ones we use at Conservation Construction last you a lifetime. Our
vinyl windows include:
â—Ź Fusion welded Frames and Sashes
● Revolutionary Platinum Elite Spacers which don’t melt or fall apart from the sun
â—Ź Low-E glass coating which reflects harmful UV rays back outside
â—Ź Platinum Elite Locking System
â—Ź Easy Clean Coating uses the sun to decompose organic matter from the glass keeping your windows cleaner longer
â—Ź Specialty Argon Gas Mixture which creates better energy efficiency
â—Ź Foam Filled frames to ensure better energy efficiency
The second way to do window replacement the right way is to ensure that the windows themselves come with a true lifetime warranty. A lot of companies out there say “lifetime” but they simply mean 10 years. At Conservation Construction we provide a solid Lifetime Limited Warranty to ensure that each and every window we sell truly stands the test of time. This warranty is offered to every homeowner who purchases windows through Conservation Construction; and is transferrable.
In person estimates don't usually come to mind first for homeowners who are looking for window replacement, but they are an essential part of buying windows. Today's world allows you to buy everything online, why shouldn’t you just get your windows from a website? Windows are different from any other product you will get online. Vinyl windows aren’t like a pair of jeans you buy and can’t fit into, and you can’t just “return” windows you don’t like.
In person estimates let you see for yourself what makes up the window and all of its compartments. Our estimators can also show you close ups of the vinyl frame and glass so you can see the quality you’re getting firsthand. We even show you how our windows perform under harsh conditions. In addition, during your estimate we measure the windows for you and give you the most accurate price for your window replacement. Estimates online can give you a “rough estimate”; but they then jack up the price later. Why not go with consistency with your windows and the same
price from start to finish?

New windows like the Window from Conservation Construction can give you clear views for life as we use a component coating on our glass called Easy Clean Coating. Easy Clean technology works with the sun to decompose organic material from the glass. This gives you clearer windows for longer, and means less cleaning for the overall life of the window.Â

We all know living in Colorado can be difficult when one day it’s sunny and warm, and then it goes to snow and ice. It can very easily go from high winds and dry, to humid and hot. There’s really no way to predict the crazy Colorado weather from one day to another, but what you can do is have a window that stands up to the bipolar weather. So when you’re looking for new window replacement it’s good to keep our crazy weather at the forefront of your thoughts.
With that being said, what is the best window for the Colorado homeowner? It’s a window that can combat all the crazy weather. The window we provide from Conservation Construction does just that and so much more.
Our Vinyl windows are great at withstanding drastic fast temperature changes without changing one bit. Our vinyl frames don’t warp when extreme sun beats down on them all day, all year round. They don’t rot when rain or snow come. You won’t find this kind of structural integrity out of other windows because you won’t find another company in Colorado who had their windows designed specifically for the Colorado climate.
All of our windows are manufactured in state, in Loveland Colorado. This does something special to make our windows better for our climate specifically. The specialty gases pumped between the window panes can be filled to the brim because we are already at altitude. Other companies can only fill their windows with so much gas because they manufacture them out of state, and then bring them into Colorado. We have more gas in our windows which means you’ll get better energy efficiency out of the window than our competitors.
Another thing to consider is the actual components that make up the window. We measure our windows to fit your home so they simply slide into place on installation day. This means the frames are virtually seamless. There is no extra trim that needs to be fitted to the frame like other companies use. By cutting down the integral trim to fit on site (the day we install the windows) you get better protection against air infiltration. You also get a tighter seal against wind, rain, and outside forces. Finally, our frames include a custom weep system to ensure rain doesn’t just sit in the track.
Our glass includes other features which make it supreme including:
 ● Low-E Glass Coating-- reflects the sun back outward giving you more stable room temperatures and drastically reduces bleaching of furniture from UV rays
â—Ź Easy Clean Coating -- this unique coating keeps your windows cleaner longer. It uses the sun to decompose organic material from the glass which means you clean less
â—Ź Dual Point Locking Systems -- for more protection
â—Ź Foam Filled Frames -- to create a more insulated window and even more energy savings
â—Ź Platinum Elite Spacer -- does not melt and hold gas in place longer than other windows
â—Ź Easy Slide Rollers -- these allow the window to slide easily so you get functionality for the life of the window
As you can see there are many reasons to get a Conservation window for your Colorado home. It’s able to stand up to the tough Colorado weather and that’s what you want out of your windows. So remember, if you’re looking for a window that will truly stand the test of time and the elements go with a window from Conservation Construction. Our windows were designed by our owner who knew what it took to create a window designed for this climate. Get your free quote for new replacement windows by clicking here.
Although window replacement has come a long way in a short amount of time, companies like Conservation Construction don’t just settle for “good windows.” We want you to have the BEST windows on the market today. That’s why we’re constantly upgrading and integrating the latest technologies into our windows to ensure the highest energy efficiency, ease of maintenance, and durability for life. We’ll talk about how our windows have developed and keep up within an industry that is constantly changing, and why these windows truly are the top choice for Colorado homeowners.
A window like the window has never been on the market before and that’s because we designed this window specifically to fit the needs of the Colorado homeowner. We knew we needed to design a window that would be able to stand up to the harsh Colorado weather. If you’ve lived here very long, you know that you need a window that may have to endure extreme heat one minute and freezing cold temperatures the next. This window is capable of giving you more stable room temperatures inside the home without warping, cracking or losing any of its energy efficient
properties.
The most significant thing that makes our windows the best for Colorado is that we manufacture them in Colorado--Loveland Colorado to be exact. This is very imperative because of the specialty gases which are placed between the panes of glass. Other companies who manufacture in other states and ship the windows here can’t fill between the panes with specialty gas because of elevation changes. Since we’re already at altitude our windows can be filled with gas, giving you better protection over time. We use a special formula of Krypton/Argon gas which is denser than air or Argon gas alone. This also makes our gas mixture better than that of other companies who just use Argon.
Another way we’ve kept ahead of the competition is the way our windows are measured, manufactured and installed. When you get your free quote for window replacement we measure the windows, and then come back to measure them a second time. The windows are then made to order. When they are installed, the integral flange can be cut to fit on site for the tightest seal possible. Why is this important? It’s important because there’s no gapping and no additional pieces which can lower energy efficiency. Our windows are one solid piece to prevent air infiltration. You’ll get a window that truly does lower energy costs.
We use a combination of coatings on our windows including Low-E and Easy Clean Coating technology. The integration of both gives you a window that is even more energy efficient and clean for life. Low-E glass has a twelve layer formula with three layers of silver to reflect the harmful UV rays back outside. This means a more stable temperature for you all year round, and the end to bleached furniture in your home. The Neat+ is a specialty coating on the window designed to decompose organic matter from the glass.
Our vinyl frames hold up over time and don’t crack, warp, or expand and contract with outside temperatures. They are perfect for the Colorado Homeowner because when it’s raining one minute, sunny the next, and snowing the next, it'll stay the stable constant in the equation. The frames allow the windows to be cleaned easily and slide smoothly for life.
Our windows are always backed by limited lifetime warranties. This means you’re covered for life under the warranty if anything ever happens to the windows. How many other companies out there can say the same?

How often should you clean your windows? This is a highly debated topic of concern for most homeowners. The average person only washes their windows 1 or two times a year. Just because this is the statistic, doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be done more often. In today’s article we’ll go over with which frequency you as a homeowner should be cleaning your windows. The frequency of cleaning windows differs depending on each individual house.Â
If you are particularly susceptible to allergens in the air, it’s always a good idea to clean your windows at least once a month during your high allergy seasons. Uncleaned windows left with allergens have been known to worsen symptoms of allergies. A simple damp cloth can prevent the allergens from entering your home when you’re ready to open your windows again.Â
If you live out in the country as opposed to the city you may get more dirt and debris flying your way. Dirt can build up on windows quickly. If you are in one of these “high dirt” areas it’s always a good idea to clean your windows at least once a month.Â
In addition, if dirt and debris are blocking your view it may be time to clean your windows too. There is no sense in looking out at a bunch of blotches on your windows when you could easily wash the debris and dirt away. Having clear views is a mood enhancer!Â
Rain spots are another huge reason to clean your windows. If you live in an area with frequent rain, the rain can block views quite easily. It is best to wash your windows at least every couple of weeks if you find the rain spots are blocking your views. High wind can also contribute to dirt on your windows. If you live in a high wind area you may consider cleaning your windows more frequently due to dirt that may accumulate on the glass.Â
The science behind easy glass coating means you’ll wash your windows significantly less than other people. This revolutionary coating which is placed on all Conservation Construction windows is a great way to enhance the beauty of your windows without having to clean them as often. How does this coating work? Easy Clean Glass means naturally cleaner glass for you and your family. It does this by using static dissipation to reduce the amount of dust on the windows surface. Along with this, the coating uses help from the sun’s UV rays to break up organic material to keep the window cleaner longer. Finally, this coating makes your windows as frictionless as possible so that rain “sheets off” and doesn’t stick to the glass easily. Say goodbye to heavy exterior cleaning. Isn’t that easy?!Â
At the very least you should be cleaning your windows every six months. Window debris builds up quite a lot in that time, and you and your windows will be much happier if they are clean with unobstructed views.Â
As noted above. if you have other things going on like blocked views and allergens you should be cleaning your windows at least once a month. This will give you clear views and prevent the sniffles if allergens are in the air. Consider getting a new set of windows from Conservation Construction and clean your windows even less with our Easy Clean Coating. Thank you for reading today’s article. Let’s be honest, there are a lot of different types of windows out there. In today’s article we’re discussing two types of windows on the market that often get grouped together. Keep reading to learn the differences between Bay Windows and Garden Windows. Hopefully, by the end of the article, you’ll have a better understanding of what makes these windows special and unique. If you’re looking to replace your windows, hopefully you’ll get an idea of which type of window might be best for your home.
There are many differences between bay and garden windows. The first major difference is the shape of each window. Although both window styles project outward, bay windows don’t project out as far. The most common shape for a bay window is an isosceles trapezoid. Bay Windows were designed to create more light and space in areas with little of both. Garden Windows, in contrast, project the father out from the house. They give a display space for plants to grow, and they are shaped more like a large box.
Bay Windows and Garden Windows are often placed in different parts of the house. For instance, most garden windows sit in kitchens above sinks. Although this is not the only place they can be installed, it is the most common. As the name suggests, most garden windows often display small potted plants. Bay windows are usually placed in living rooms or other areas of the house, and they don’t have s shelf like garden windows do.
The garden window itself is also mostly glass. This gives it the “greenhouse effect” that most homeowners are seeking when they purchase a garden window. This means they’re great at helping plants grow. They also gives a little bit of additional space to hold objects. Although Bay windows contain a lot of energy efficient glass as well, they don’t offer as much glass as garden windows. They are constructed to add additional space to an area. You can use this space for a reading nook or for more storage. Some bay windows may have seating, but not all of them do.
Both Bay and Garden windows let in more light. They are both great options for rooms with little natural light. They both give you a little bit of additional space in your home. When you get them from Conservation Construction they are constructed for longevity and durability. All of our windows, regardless of shape or size, offer unique glass coatings which reflect light back outside and give you more stable room temperatures all year long. Our windows have been known to save homeowners an average of up to 40% off their energy bills. Furthermore, they give you all the sunlight along with high solar control so you get all the views but don’t have dark, tinted windows.

From my own personal experience, I know for sure how much new windows can affect your mood. They affected my entire outlook on life. It wasn’t just that my old windows were fogged up and disgusting; because they were (see image below). It was that I felt like I couldn’t open my blinds because the windows were so grimy I didn’t even want to look at them. I didn’t realize it, but the lack of sun coupled with the foggy/cracked windows put me in an off mood most days.
The old windows obstructed the natural Colorado sunlight. It also made the views of the mountains and pine trees look distorted. Both of these things were truly a nuisance. Furthermore, the nuisance only continued with any type of storm. Anything from a light breeze up to a rainstorm would cause major problems inside my home with my old windows. I would get water inside the house, and my curtains would literally blow inward with any breeze. It was pathetic how bad my windows were before.
Those who know about sunlight know the more we get the more our bodies produce serotonin. Serotonin regulates our happiness and anxiety. The more serotonin in our brains the less stressed we are. I found that with the new windows I could open the blinds farther and get more sunlight myself. Upon receiving my new windows, I found my mood shifted almost immediately. And, I could now keep my blinds open without obstructed views.
Kind of like how a clean desk can help productivity at work, clean windows can help you while you’re working from home. I didn’t realize just how much fogged up windows made my house look dirty. No matter how much I cleaned the house always had this tinge of dullness to it because the old windows were making the house seem gloomy. The sunrise is bright and beautiful as it comes through the windows, and I love sitting on my couch, sippin’ on some coffee, and enjoying the view. Since my house feels cleaner, I get more stuff done in my own home.
The windows are coated, too, with a specialized Easy Clean Glass Coating. This coating works with the sun to decompose organic matter from the glass which helps your windows stay clean and clear for years. I haven’t even had to clean my windows once since they were installed.
I couldn’t get my old windows open. Truly, I couldn’t even open them a crack because the mechanisms in the window which allowed this were broken. So in the summer I had to either open my patio doors or front door to get any sort of breeze going. With my new windows from Conservation Construction I get full functionality out of my windows. I can open and shut them with ease. This may not seem like a big deal to other, but it was a big deal to me. They also now lock properly which is a huge bonus because my house feels safe now when before it didn’t feel safe at all.
The windows have also lowered our energy costs. Energy savings wasn’t the first thing I wanted out of the windows when I purchased them. I bought them mostly for the clear views but saving on energy costs was a nice added bonus. We spend about $40 less in energy costs per month - that’s a pretty decent monthly savings.
I can’t say enough good things about Conservation Construction windows. They are just the best, and I’m not just saying that because I work here. They truly are beautiful, functional, safe and energy efficient. I would highly recommend them to anybody in need of window replacement. Nowadays, I open my blinds and I open them wide. My house feels more like home than ever. Again, I’m not speaking for everyone. This is one woman’s perspective on how new home windows affected her mood. I can’t say for certain it will change your happiness like it did mine, but there is a good chance they could. Get more sunlight, function, and energy efficiency out of your home windows. What makes Conservation Vinyl Window Frames different than all other frames in today’s market? It’s the details that matter, and in today’s article we’ll be teaching you all about our vinyl frames and what makes them so unique. So, let’s get to it . . .Â
Our Vinyl Frames were engineered for longevity, energy efficiency, and practicality. These frames are the perfect fit for our energy efficient glass because together they create a complete moisture management/ air infiltration prevention system. How do we manage this? Are frames are measured twice, once upon the initial quote, and again by your installer. What this does is ensure the windows are the perfect fit. We make the custom windows to order in our warehouse in Loveland Colorado.Â
They are then picked up by your installer on installation day. Once at your house, the installers cut down the outside of the frame to fit into your windows perfectly. What this does is create the tightest seal possible to prevent air infiltration and give you optimal energy efficiency. Other companies on the market have tiny pieces they place into the window after installation that don’t stay in place easily and allow more outside air inside.Â
Our windows are superior in other ways too like our custom Foam Filled Frames. That’s right, the sides of all our window frames are filled with a specialized foam. This foam is used to create even better insulation to the window overall. The foam helps prevent absorption of heat and cold into your house too.Â
Each and every window we sell also comes with custom drains that sit on the bottom of the frames. These drains ensure that any water that may come your way be it sleet, rain, or snow drains out from the window itself. It also sheets away from your house in the process. Your frames will no longer get damage from water sitting on the frames. This kind of damage is just a thing of the past.Â
Finally, unlike old aluminum frames your new Vinyl Frames won’t conduct heat and cold. They stay at a stable temperature all year round giving you top notch energy efficiency in all four seasons. This means you’ll lower your energy costs and stay more comfortable in your home all at once.Â
So choose Conservation Construction Windows because our frames were engineered to stand the test of time and remain energy efficient in the process. You just can’t get this kind of durability and customization from any other company on the market. Check out our website here for your free quote. Comment below on what you found interesting about our vinyl frames. We can’t wait to hear from you and have you as a reader next time.
“Your windows are amazing!” or “Look at how beautiful your windows are.” These are just some of the things you could be hearing if you get a new window installation from Conservation Construction. You could also be saying to yourself, “Holy Cow! Look how much I’m saving in energy costs!” A word of caution, you may want to watch where you’re sitting because you might fall out of your chair when you see the energy savings new windows can provide. On average windows can save most homeowners 35%-40% off their energy costs. Expert Window Installation
I know this was true for me when I got new windows a couple years back. I save an average of 50$ a month during the winter. When cold weather creeped in before due to my old windows, now it is kept outside where it belongs. My house feels more comfortable now than it ever did with the old windows.Â
Why are Windows so energy efficient? It’s not just that we provide;Â
It is also because our installation process is unmatched in the business. Our installers have decades of experience installing windows. This time has given them the practice and skills to hone the craft.Â
Windows are different here for a completely different reason too. Your installer comes to measure the window to perfection. Finally, your installer picks up the windows and literally cuts vinyl down to fit into the window perfectly. What this does is ensure the highest amount of insulation and least amount of air infiltration. This is what also gives our windows one of the highest U-factors on the market today.Â
Additionally, our window installers are hard working, nice individuals who care about getting the job done right the first time. We pride ourselves on only keeping those on staff who are respectful and treat our clients with the utmost care. It’s really what sets our replacement windows above the rest. You just can find this kind of customer care at the “Box Stores.” In addition, we have multiple window colors to choose from! Choose from black, almond, and so much more!Â

Now we could go into the short answer of whether or not home windows are made of tempered glass, but where would the fun in that be? We like to make you wait a bit for the answer to this profound question.Â
Okay, maybe this isn’t quite a “Profound” question per say, but it is a good question to start asking as you look for new replacement windows. Tempered glass windows are common in homes, but they are not ubiquitous other windows. That’s because normal window glass does not have to be tempered. Strong sure, but not tempered. Why is this?Â
Tempered windows are typically only used by entrances of a house. Think about windows near doors and you’ve got the idea for where tempered glass is needed. That’s because tempered glass is stronger than other types of glass. Tempered glass has a minimum surface compression of 10,000 pounds per square inch. The extra strength is needed near entrances to prevent glass shatter, and to comply with most building codes. All windows including; single pane and double pane windows need tempered glass if it’s within a certain number of inches from the door.Â
Now your entire house does not need to have tempered glass. This glass is used because of slamming doors and people exiting and entering a home. Tempered glass prevents breaks, cracking and everything else in between. It is multiple times stronger than regular glass which prevents it from turning into jagged shards on the floor when guests exit and enter your home. Not to mention tempered glass is about 3x more expensive than regular window glass so you wouldn’t want it in your entire home or you’d be spending a lot more money.Â
Tempered glass is no less energy efficient than regular glass, especially when you go with a Window from Conservation Construction. That’s because we still use all the same extraordinary coating on the glass that makes it energy efficient. We use Easy Clean Glass, Low-E Glass Coatings, and Argon Gas mixture to ensure lifelong energy efficiency and insulation for the window. On top of this, you’ll get vinyl frame which are foam filled to ensure better strength against air infiltration.Â
Here at Conservation Construction we take great care in making sure that all the windows which need tempered glass get tempered glass, and that you’re not paying for additional windows which don’t need to be tempered. Our tempered glass is strong and durable.Â

Happy Monday to all reading this article. As we ramp up for an entire new week we thought we'd give you an article to distract yourself from the Monday blues.Â
In today’s article we’re talking about the differences in Window Replacement VS Window Repair. The average person might not think that there is a huge difference between the two. After working in the window replacement business for the past two years let me tell you there is a huge difference. So, let’s jump into today’s article and learn all about it.
So why is it that the typical person needs a Replacement Window/Repair Window? It’s usually because their window isn’t functioning properly. Either they have condensation stuck between the glass, they have cracked glass, the window doesn’t open properly, or the locks don’t work. In the situation in my own house all of the above were happening at once. If you have any one of these problems it’s a tell-tale it’s time to replace.Â
So what’s the deal with repair or replacement? There are clear distinctive differences. Repair companies typically just put new panes of glass inside the windows. Repair companies can fix non-sliding window frame problems too. These repairs can make the original windows look almost brand new, but here’s where the issues come in . . . they are not brand new windows at all. The problems that were there before are still problems, but just masked over problems.Â
If repair companies replace the glass with insulated glass coatings and reseal the window, that doesn't give you optimal energy efficiency because they are not filling the windows with specialty gases. These gases give optimal insulation and energy efficiency, without them your old windows won’t insulate as well as Replacement Windows. On top of this, re-caulking and weather stripping the windows looks nice, but it’s not guaranteed to keep the seal for very long.Â
The final difference in just repairing or replacing is a doozy. This is a definite Pay Attention moment for the article before simply repairing your windows. Old frames that were used throughout the 50’s-80’s and even into the early 90’s used Aluminum or Metal frames.
This is a huge red flag in the repair world. You don’t want to simply repair old metal frames because metal frames will effectively just make the problems with your old windows come back. Let me state that again. Metal frames will just make you have the same problems you’ve had before like condensation, cracking glass, and overall wonky windows. Why is this? It’s simple . . . Metal conducts heat. When the sun shines into your windows, the metal is contracting and expanding with the heat. This causes window seals and glass to become shifted and loose within those frames. It wouldn’t be very long before these problems started to arise once again.Â
Our advice is to spend even a little bit more on Window Replacement. There is a reason Conservation Construction utilizes Vinyl window frames and double paned windows with energy efficient glass. Unlike metal or rotting wood, the frames hold up to extreme temperatures and weather. Heck, we even back all of our windows by Lifetime Warranties to ensure longevity, ease of operation, and lower energy bills.Â
Our Vinyl windows have;
It’s all of these things working together that give you a window that is able to withstand drastic fast temperature changes and every day wear and tear with ease. Ease of operation is something all homeowners should enjoy in their own home. You shouldn’t have to struggle just to get your windows open, and you won’t have to with a Conservation Window.Â
The most extraordinary and second Pay Attention moment for this article is this. We cut the windows to fit when we install them at your house. You might have thought you read something wrong there, but you didn’t. Our expert installers come and measure each window individually. We then custom make your windows from scratch in our warehouse in Loveland Colorado. The frame is cut down on site during installation to fit snugly inside your home. This means you get the tightest seal possible for your windows with little to no air infiltration possible. The result is that over the life of the window you’ll get optimal energy efficiency and a more stable room temperature all year round. The average homeowner who chooses Conservation Construction has seen a typical savings of up to 40% off their energy bills.Â
So the differences in repairing your windows versus replacing them are huge. We hope you’ve learned a bit from today’s article. Remember the key facts, repairing doesn’t always fix the problem because the same issues may arise later on. Replacing windows give you longevity, ease of operation, efficiency and beauty. Please comment below on what your favorite part of this article was. We look forward to hearing from you. You can visit us online here for your free estimate on new windows! Some people like the grid look and some do not. One thing is for sure when we live in the state of Colorado you should always check with your HOA, if you have one, to make sure they don’t have some sort of regulation.Â
I’m one of those people who don’t like the grid look, but I moved into a community that makes all the houses have grids. Yep, grids were just part of the requirement when I got my windows placed a couple years back. This is just one example of why it’s good to check with your HOA before you get anything done to your house to make sure you’re not violating any regulations. I know HOA’s are kind of a hassle from first hand experience, and I’m sure some other Colorado homeowners know this too.Â
Secondly, if you really don’t like the grid pattern look, you don’t have to have it. If you have old windows with a grid and would like to change them out for a more sleek plain glass design, you can choose that. As long as we have the measurements for your home, Conservation Construction can build you a window that has no grid at all. We have double hung windows, bay windows, pictures windows, and more. We want your window to be perfect right to left top to bottom.Â
Let’s say you like the grids. That works out well too because we can match any existing pattern you have in your window already. Our estimators are excellent at getting you just what you are looking for.Â
Conservation windows are not just more functional than your old windows they are extremely energy efficient too. Our windows have been known to save the average homeowner up to 40% off their total energy costs. That’s because of all the exclusive features we put into the windows like our Low-E Glass Coating which gives you high visibility and thermal control. You get to keep the blinds open without losing any energy efficiency. Our Conservation Windows also include a specialty Easy Clean Glass Coating that uses the power of the sun to decompose organic matter from the glass. This means you’ll get gorgeous clear views for the life of the windows.Â
Our panes of glass are sealed and filled with two types of gas Argon. This gas is a better insulator than air alone, and it provides you even more energy efficiency for your window.Â
Replacing windows is a skill that requires years of practice. We have the installers with the experience to get your windows installed the right way the first time. We also provide lifetime warranties to ensure that your window will truly stand the test of time.Â
To finish things up, remember that you can always choose between grids or no grids. At Conservation Construction you truly get the window of your dreams without the hassle. With A Conservation Window you’ll get better insulation, lower energy bills, and clearer views. Call us today or go online here for your free estimate. Thanks for reading today’s article and comment below on what your dream window would look like.Â
It’s Friday once again and we’re thrilled you’re reading this article. As another week comes to a close we’re taking you through the steps you should ask yourself before you purchase a new patio door.
Patio Doors, in a lot of ways, are like your own personal style. You wouldn’t wear something that wasn’t uniquely you. You wouldn’t want a door in your house that didn’t match the style of your home, would you? When you pick a patio door it’s good advice to keep in mind style.
Our first pro tip on how to pick the best patio door for you is . . .
Asking yourself what kind of style you want out of the door you get. Are you looking for the more sleek look of a sliding glass door, or do you want an old world feeling of a traditional French Door? Both are very different styles and it’s best to consider what will go with your style and lifestyle. Different French doors comes with a variety of choices for glass. All patio doors come with a variety of options for hardware. Make sure you pick correctly now, because a new patio door purchased today is in your house for a very long time. Here at Conservation Construction we even have lifetime warranties.
Pro tip #2
Consider functionality. If you already have a small space where the patio door is going, it might be a good option to simply stick with a sliding glass door rather than a French door. French doors are designed to swing in our out and inherently take up a bigger space than a sliding glass door would. If you have a sliding glass door already, you won’t be disappointed either. Our doors are “Naturally Clean” with our Easy Clean Glass coating. The hardware is easy to use and you’ll get a door that is truly clear and beautiful.
Pro tip#3
Energy Efficiency. If you have an old sliding glass door that is 20+ years it’s safe to say that all the energy saving properties have gone out on the door a long time ago. Today, regulations are a bit more strict at what kind of doors (and windows) manufacturers can sell to any homeowner. Every patio door or window sold in Colorado today must be what we call Low-E Glass. It’s a fancy way of saying the glass must have protective coatings to shield the home from harmful UV rays. Every company you look at should have some form of Low-E glass. It’s a major red flag if the company doesn’t have energy efficient patio doors.
In addition, Conservation Construction has one of the most unique glass doors on the market. We use a special Low-E glass. It almost makes all other Low-E glass obsolete. It has 4 layers of protective coating. Our doors and windows have some of the lowest heat transference values ever recorded. What this means for you is more stable room temperatures all year round. You’ll feel comfortable in your home. On top of this, we include a krypton/argon gas fill between the panes for better insulation and less air infiltration. This is what amounts to so much money savings.
Pro tip#4
Talk to the professional you are looking to replace your sliding glass door with. It’s easy to just go online and look at patio doors, it’s quite another to get the information right from the source. We here at Conservation Construction like questions and give free home estimates. If a company has a hard time answering your questions or is skirting around the truth that’s easy to spot. A great patio door company will be upfront and honest about everything involved in the process.
Pro tip #5
Have fun picking out your new patio door. It’s a large expense, but it is one that pays off. Patio doors add value back into your home. Additionally, they give you more safety and better energy efficiency for your home. Average homeowners who switch to a new patio door can save up to 35% off their entire energy bill. That means more money is going back into your pocket to put towards other things. That is very cool indeed.
Finally, it’s easy to get the door you want.
